His father was a drummer and a musician. For his 15th or 16th birthday, his father got him some time in his friend's recording studio. He made his first record, which was mostly sold to his friends and family. At Idyllwild School for the Arts, an international boarding school east of Los Angeles, he studied classical guitar. In his senior year of high school, he signed a record deal with Geffen Records. After graduation, he moved to LA and began working with producers such as John Alagia (John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Dave Matthews) and The Laboriel Brothers (Sting, Paul Mccartney). Other than an EP, none of the recordings he made with Geffen ever came out. He was dropped from the label in 2008.
Subsequently, he toured and played with acts such as Steel Pulse, The Wailers, Matisyahu, Stevie Nicks, Ben Harper, Colbie Caillat, Los Lobos, Ziggy Marley, Rusted Root, and many others.
His album, KALA, written in Hawaii and recorded in Los Angeles, was released on August 21, 2015. It debuted at No. 2 on the iTunes singer-songwriter chart.[1]
Released on June 1st, 2018, The Fruitful Darkness was Hall's first completely independent release.

Other Ways
Trevor Hall Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I feel like a clown
In a circus of my own
Oh my cover is blown
Feel like I got a heart made of tin
I thought of you this morning
Well I sleep into a state
Well I start to find
That I can't get your smoke out of my eyes
I guess I lose
I guess you win
I thought of you this morning
Well I think about all the other ways I could've played
All the other simple moves I could've made
All the other cards that I could've dealt
All the books I didn't read upon my shelf
All the other ways I could've sung my songs
I've realized that none of it wen't wrong
It was all play
How could it be any other way?
Now that the chains are off
I'm free to roam
Everywhere I go
I feel like I'm home
Nothing hides
Everything is shown
She is always with me
I'm never alone
I guess you lose
I guess I win
I thought of you this morning
The lyrics of Trevor Hall's song "Other Ways" are full of emotion and self-reflection. In the opening lines, the songwriter expresses the feeling of being out of place, as if he is a clown in his own circus. He feels exposed and vulnerable, as though his true self has been revealed. He mentions feeling like he has a heart made of tin, which may symbolize a lack of emotional capacity or a feeling of being hardened by life's challenges. Despite this, he still thinks of the person he loves.
In the next verse, the songwriter describes waking up with the smoke of a loved one in his eyes. This may represent a feeling of being unable to escape their presence, even though they are physically or emotionally distant. He acknowledges that he has lost something in his past relationship, but also realizes that he needs to move on to other ways of living and loving.
The chorus suggests that the songwriter has come to an understanding that there were many paths that his life could have taken, and that he may have made different choices. However, he has come to accept that his journey has led him to where he is now, and that it was all part of the play of life. He has found a sense of freedom and peace, and feels that he is always accompanied by his loved one.
Overall, the lyrics of "Other Ways" convey a sense of loss, longing, and acceptance. The songwriter recognizes the pain of losing someone, but also acknowledges the need to let go and move forward. The chorus seems to suggest that there is no one "right" way to live life, but that we must each find our own path and embrace the challenges that come our way.

As I walk on down
As I continue my journey
I feel like a clown
I feel like a fool
In a circus of my own
In a world of my own problems and chaos
Oh my cover is blown
My facade has been exposed
Feel like I got a heart made of tin
I feel numb and emotionless
I thought of you this morning
You were on my mind when I woke up
Well I sleep into a state
I fall asleep and enter a dreamlike state
As I awake
As I come back to reality
Well I start to find
I realize
That I can't get your smoke out of my eyes
Your presence and influence still linger in my life
I guess I lose
I admit defeat
I guess you win
You have won
Well I think about all the other ways I could've played
I reflect on the alternate paths I could've taken
All the other simple moves I could've made
All the easy decisions I could've chosen
All the other cards that I could've dealt
All the different opportunities I could've had
All the books I didn't read upon my shelf
All the knowledge and experiences I missed out on
All the other ways I could've sung my songs
All the other creative ways I could've expressed myself
I've realized that none of it wen’t wrong
I understand that everything happened for a reason
It was all play
It was all part of the game of life
How could it be any other way?
It couldn't have happened any differently
Now that the chains are off
Now that I am free from my burdens
I'm free to roam
I have the freedom to explore and experience life
Everywhere I go
Regardless of where I am
I feel like I'm home
I feel comfortable and at peace
Nothing hides
Everything is transparent and honest
Everything is shown
All the answers and truths are revealed
She is always with me
Someone special is always by my side
I'm never alone
I am never truly isolated
I guess you lose
You have suffered defeat
I guess I win
I have emerged victorious
I thought of you this morning
You are still on my mind
