Forever Young
Trevor Lucas Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

May God's bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay
May you stay forever young

Forever young
Forever young
May you stay
Stay forever young

May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you

May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay
May you stay forever young

Forever young
Forever young
May you stay
Stay forever young

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift

May your heart always be joyful
May your song always be sung
And may you stay
May you stay forever young

Forever young
Forever young

May you stay
May you stay forever young

Overall Meaning

Trevor Lucas's song "Forever Young" is an ode to the power of positivity and a wish for eternal youthfulness. In the first verse, the singer invokes God's blessings and hopes that the listener's wishes come true. The second line can be seen as a nod to the idea of manifesting one's desires. The singer then encourages kindness towards others and reminds the listener that it's okay to receive help from others as well. The line "May you build a ladder to the stars and climb on every rung" is a metaphor for setting high goals and striving to achieve them. However, the idea of "staying forever young" suggests that the process of growth never ends, no matter how old we become.

The second verse continues with the theme of righteousness and truthfulness. The singer encourages courage and strength in standing up for what's right. The last line of the verse "May you stay forever young" serves as a reminder that the journey of personal growth is ongoing. The third verse offers a wish for a life of productivity and swiftness. The singer hopes that the listener is able to weather any changes to their environment with a strong foundation. Overall, the message is very positive and life-affirming, encouraging the listener to continue growing and thriving no matter what obstacles they face.

At long long last Sandy is being widely heard and new people coming to love her music, and the same should happen for Trevor.

one of my favorites from the Attic Tracks... he was a great and underrated singer, and I hope one day Georgia Lucas will get to appreciate how much Sandy and Trevor meant to us all and still means to us.

WOW... have to add this to my collection of Dylan songs... I discovered Sandy Denny and this group back in 1980... and still can't get enough...

Apparently written when he looked at his own little boy...

Sandy underrated her wonderful voice and inflections. She wrote some great songs. Joni Mitchell is so famous and well-regarded that no one will object if I say I prefer Sandy's contained voice and thoughtful lyrics to Joni's voice and lyrics. Jazz muscians record Joni's songs so she's doing OK critically. The lyrics of Sandy, Fairport and most folk songs are those of senstive honest people and are the voice of those who don't benefit from unfair economic systems.

i won't object, with the exception of big yellow taxi and i met you on a midway and clouds (possibly a couple of others i will remember later) Joni is a dreadful singer.I loved her when very young but only becaue i had yet to discover Janis, and i didn't discover Sandy until i was in my early 30s.Many artists are better songwriters than they are singers. With age,Jonis voice has deepened to such a degree that i heard her somewhere and thought it was a man singing her song, until corrected.Sandy had such an emotive quality to her singing aswell as the sheer beauty of her voice itself.Very rare and very special.People these days do not know how to sing, believing eroneously that the louder and more you oversing the better singer you will be seen as,it's just horrid..hence all my favourite singers are dead.
