Songz was born Tremaine Aldon Neverson on November 28, 1984, in Petersburg, Virginia. Raised a military brat, he recognized his vocal abilities at the age of 14. Reluctant to sing, he began performing with encouragement by friends and family. Record producer Troy Taylor discovered Songz during a talent show, which led him to a record contract with Atlantic Records. After graduating from high school, Songz moved to New Jersey to begin his music career.
2004β2006: I Gotta Make It
While recording his debut album, Songz released mixtapes under the alias Prince of Virginia. He made an βanswer trackβ to R. Kellyβs βTrapped in the Closetβ, entitled βOpen the Closetβ.His debut album, I Gotta Make It was released in July 2005 by Atlantic Records. It debuted at number 20 on the Billboard 200, domestically selling over 10,000 copies in its first week of sales. Songzβs debut album yielded the singles Gotta Make It, debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 87, and on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts at numbber 21, becoming his first Top 40 R&B hit. Another single, Gotta Go, peaked at number 67 on the Hot 100 and on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, at number 99.
2007β2008: Trey Day
Songz released his second studio album, Trey Day, in October 2007. The album again had only featured guest appearances by Bun B, who appeared on the opening track, and Jim Jones. Production on Songzβs second album had included, Bryan-Michael Cox, R. Kelly, James Harris, Terry Lewis, Andrew Harr, Bernard Freeman, Floyd Hills, alongside Tamir βNokioβ Ruffin, Justin Haro, and M.S. Eriksen. The album debuted at number 11 on the Billboard 200, selling more units than his previous album, I Gotta Make It. The lead single, βWonder Womanβ, peaked at number 54 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, but failed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100.
The second single, βCanβt Help but Waitβ, peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100, and at number two on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart; it became Songzβs highest charting debut on the Hot 100, and his first-charting R&B single on the R&B charts.[citation needed] βCanβt Help But Waitβ charted at number 74 on the Billboard Pop 100 in February 2008. The third single off of βTrey Dayβ, βLast Timeβ, peaked on number 69 on the Billboard Hot 100, and at number nine on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. In 2008, Songz was nominated for a BET Award for Best Male R&B Artist.
2009βpresent: Ready
In 2009, βCanβt Help but Waitβ earned Songz a nomination for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance at the 2009 Grammy Awards ceremony. He announced the upcoming release of his third album, Ready, scheduled to be released in September 2009. Ready is preceded by the first single, βI Need a Girlβ. Furthermore, a companion video to βBrand Newβ, was released in March 2009. Possible collaborators on Ready include Fabolous, Ne-Yo, Nelly, J. Holiday, Drake, Chris Brown, The Game, amongst others. Production is set to come from the likes of Stargate, Jermaine Dupri and Jim Jonsin.
Prior to the release of Ready, Songz released a mixtape titled Anticipation in June 2009 through his blog. This mixtape is the second mixtape released by Trey Songz in 2009, with the first being titled Genesis. Genesis was a collection of Trey Songz first recordings when he was fifteen years old and was released to show his fans the dedication that he had to making a record when he was young.

Oh, oh, oh
Yeah-yeah, yeah
Yeah-yeah, yeah
Nights like this
Make me wish I never fell in love with you
Time flies by
You just keep playin' games
Things ain't the same for me and you
Tell me why?
You were my all but I'm no longer scared
Scared of losin' you (hmm-hmm, hmm-hmm, oh no)
Colors of the sky, used to be blue, but now they changin' you
Quick to say I'm wrong, but you're so slow to see it from my view
Love shine like the sun, then disappear just like the mornin' dew
You want loyalty, but you can't have your cake and eat it too, you know (no, no)
Sleepless nights when you're not around
Who do you fuck when I'm not in town?
My mind is racin', I need to slow down, woah, no (oh)
Sleepless nights when you're not around
Who do you fuck when I'm not in town?
My mind is racin', I need to slow down
What you not gon' do
When you downtown, out all night
I don't call you, tired
But you downtown, out all night (downtown, out all night)
(Orejebu)
I don't you call you, tired

As soon as she come, dey apologize
Don't want to see you with another guy
You no dey fuck with me, look me in the eyes

Gyal shine like bust down

The lyrics to Trey Songz's song "Sleepless Nights" depict the emotional struggle and heartbreak experienced after a failed relationship. The singer reminisces about the past and expresses his deep longing for the way things used to be. He reflects on the changes that have occurred, with colors losing their vibrancy and love disappearing like morning dew.
The song explores the theme of distrust and betrayal. The singer questions who his partner is involved with when he is not around, causing his mind to race and preventing him from finding peace. He confronts his partner about her actions and the lack of communication, feeling hurt and confused by her games.
Throughout the song, there is a sense of frustration and resignation. The singer realizes that he cannot hold on to someone who does not reciprocate his loyalty. Despite the pain of losing her, he no longer fears the possibility of losing her because he has come to terms with the fact that their relationship is no longer what it once was.
In summary, "Sleepless Nights" is a heartfelt and introspective portrayal of a broken relationship, focusing on themes of betrayal, longing, and acceptance.
