Sea Of Love
Twilights Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Come with me, my love
To the sea, the sea of love
I want to tell you how much I love you

Do you remember when we met
That's the day I knew you were my pet
I want to tell you how much I love you
Come with me, to the sea
Do you remember when we met
That's the day I knew you were my pet
I want to tell you how much I love you

Come with me, to the sea of love

Overall Meaning

"Sea of Love" by Twilight is a romantic song that speaks of the depth of love between two individuals, and how they should go together to the sea of love to express that love. The first verse says "Come with me, my love; To the sea, the sea of love; I want to tell you how much I love you." This verse is very straightforward and sets the tone for the whole song. The singer is urging their love to come with them, suggesting that they need to embark on a journey to the depths of their love.

In the second verse, the singer reminisces about when they first met, and how they knew that their love interest was the one for them. That's the day I knew you were my pet; I want to tell you how much I love you.’" This verse shows that the singer has always known that their love interest was the one for them and that they want to express their love.

The chorus, "Come with me, to the sea; Do you remember when we met; That's the day I knew you were my pet; I want to tell you how much I love you," repeats the first two lines of the first verse while adding the reminiscence from the second verse. The chorus's repetition reaffirms the singer's urgency and need for their love interest to join them to the sea of love.

I was in junior high when this song came out. Dated a girl when I was home on leave from the Army in 1966, 25 years later we met again, and we had this song played as our wedding dance 27 years ago.

Me & my ex-wife loved this song. We split up. I still love this song. Forever, probably.

Old times, good times, good music, good lyrics, not today's garbage. Lovely song, nothing but the original of Phil Phillips

I was born in 85 but my dad was born in 42. This was one of his favorite songs and he’d play it in the car everywhere we went. It quickly became one of my favorites as well. He passed away less than a year ago from cancer but listening to all our 1950s/1960s riding jams makes me feel close to him. Miss you daddy.

Music does do that to ya. A song can bring us to the first time we heard it. This song will be added to my performing song list of early rock n roll.
