Twiztid's debut album, Mostasteless, was originally released independently by Psychopathic in 1997, but was pulled, then re-released a year later on Twiztid's new label; Island with a somewhat different track listing as a result of uncleared samples in a few songs in the original release.

But please leave a brief message
Including your first and last name
And telephone number, if this is an emergency
Please hang up and dial 911
Thank you and have a wonderful day
Why won't you answer?
I've reached all of you, I have called you
I've called you that I'm dying, I've called you
I've called you many times
I've called you
I've called you that we've been there, were we?
You are goddamn [?]
They came for me last night
They came for me last night
They came for me last night
They're beyond me
But I, I took a straight razor
And shaved them!
I've shaved them goddammit, I've shaved them all off me!
[?]
And I've shaved them, I've shaved them all off me
And I'm bleeding, I think I've told you
I'm bleeding for four fucking hours!
I have been bleeding and called you
And you didn't answered!
You told you will be there for me!
You are there for me, you are there, you are there for me!
I am bleeding, The Darkness is coming and I [?] please
Please call me! It hurts so bad!
The beginning of the song features a voicemail message from "doctor Fallenlegna" inviting the listener to leave a message, but also instructing them to call 911 in case of an emergency. This sets up the theme of the song, which seems to be about someone desperately trying to reach out for help, but feeling ignored and abandoned. The main lyrics of the song comprise of the singer begging for someone to pick up the phone and answer them, describing how they have been trying to reach out for help because they are in distress. They also mention having been attacked by a group of individuals and using a razor to defend themselves. The lyrics are highly emotional and convey a sense of fear, desperation and confusion.
The song appears to be exploring themes of mental illness, despair and loneliness, with lyrics that suggest the singer is struggling to make sense of their reality or get the help they need. The repeated refrain of "Why won't you answer?" suggests that they feel completely alone and abandoned, with nobody willing or able to help them. The use of violent imagery also adds to the unsettling tone of the song, with the singer describing how they have been attacked and forced to defend themselves in order to survive.
Overall, "Why Won't You Answer" is a haunting, emotional song that explores the dark side of mental illness and the ways in which people can feel completely alone and powerless in the face of their struggles.
