Can't Talk To You

I want to try
You are so pretty
I want to die
Can't let myself, can't let myself talk to you
But I want to, but I want to, want to
Can't let myself, can't let myself talk to you
What can you feel that I'm tired?
Just wanna, just wanna make you mine
I don't know why
I wanna "oh-oh-oh"
Can't let myself, can't let myself talk to you
But I want to, but I want to, want to
Can't let myself, can't let myself talk to you
But I want to, but I want to, want to
The lyrics of Ty Segall's song "Can't Talk To You" express the confusion and hesitation of someone who is drawn to another person but is unable to muster the courage to speak to them. In the first verse, the singer describes the intense attraction they feel towards the person, but this is immediately followed by the admission that they cannot bring themselves to initiate a conversation. The next verse is an expression of frustration, as the singer acknowledges that their desire for the other person is causing them to feel tired and exasperated.
Throughout the song, the repeated refrain "Can't let myself, can't let myself talk to you / But I want to, but I want to, want to" highlights the inner turmoil of the singer. They are caught between their desire to pursue the person they are attracted to and their own fear or insecurity that is holding them back. The final line of the song, "I don't know why / I wanna 'oh-oh-oh'", emphasizes the confusion and ambivalence of the singer's feelings.
Overall, the lyrics of "Can't Talk To You" offer a poignant and relatable portrayal of the difficulty of navigating romantic attraction and the inner conflict that can arise when one is faced with the prospect of making themselves vulnerable to another person.
