He was born in a rural community around 20 miles outside of Greenville Mississippi in 1938 to John and Falker Davis, spent most of his formative years in Saginaw, MI, and moved to Chicago in 1959. He made many great soul records for the Dakar and Columbia labels from the 1970s, right through the disco and funk booms and into the 21st century. Davis' best-known hits were "Turn Back the Hands of Time" and "Can I Change My Mind". He died in a Chicago hospital in 2005 of complications following a stroke in October of 2004 from which he never recovered.

Today is Thursday May 4th, 2023 and Tyrone Davis is celebrating his 85th birthday and I'd like to wish him
a good luck, happiness and charm on his special day. Still, he is singing up there in heaven with the late
Luther Vandross, Freddie King, Jackie Wilson, Major Harris and Teddy Pendergrass. Also, I have been
falling in love with his warm and romantic baritone because he had such a smooth and sexy voice when
he sings that gorgeous quiet storm ballad In The Mood and I like to slow dance to my favorite song all
night long. Once again, I'd like to say happy birthday in heaven to the king of romantic soul and the man
that I truly adore, the one and only Tyrone Davis! Happy 85th birthday Tyrone Davis. May the fourth be
with you forever and always.
