Regrets
Union 13 Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I don't have what you have
I don't live with my regrets.
I do all I want to do no sky
Is my limit I'm gonna live my life
The way that I think is best for me.
You've tried to hold me back
I've never given in to your perfect so-called way of life.
"It takes a smart man to play dumb"
The lyrics to Union 13's song Regrets are an expression of individuality and freedom from societal norms. The singer is responding to someone who criticizes them for not conforming to the expectations of society. The critic is described as someone who is part of the system and is unable to understand the singer's decision to live their life in their own way. The singer asserts that they do not have any regrets and that they are free to do whatever they want. The idea of limitations is rejected by the singer, who sees no boundaries to their potential. They refuse to adhere to what their critic deems as the perfect way of life and would rather be themselves. The final line of the song, "It takes a smart man to play dumb," references the strategy of appearing less intelligent to avoid confrontation or being targeted. This line suggests that the singer is aware of the dangers of being different and is willing to adapt to navigate through life.
Overall, the song Regrets is an anthem for those who refuse to be defined by what is expected of them. It speaks to a universal desire to live life on one's own terms, even if that means going against the established order. The lyrics are about embracing individuality, celebrating diversity, and recognizing that a person can live happily without conforming to norms.
