Storm
Vanvidd Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Mannskapet svettet, og bølgene slo
Vi fulgte kursen for fulle seil
Fandens giv for nattens nød
Før vi våkner skal vi dø
(Storm!)
Før vi våkner skal vi dø
Før vi våkner skal vi dø
Etter mange timer i stormens vrede
nådde skipet endelig havn
Stanken av gjenglemt, fremfaren aske
vekket frykten i alle mann
(Storm! - Storm!)
Her kunne alle ta en øl i fred
Fandens giv for nattens nød
Før vi våkner skal vi dø
(Storm!)
Før vi våkner skal vi dø
(Storm!)
Før vi våkner skal vi dø
Før vi våkner skal vi dø
The lyrics of Vanvidd's song "Storm" depict the harrowing experience of a crew caught in the midst of a violent storm at sea. The opening lines describe the ship sailing towards its destination with the crew completely unaware of the impending danger of the storm that was brewing. As the storm hits, chaos ensues and the crew struggles to hold on to anything they can as the winds and waves toss them about. The verses describe a tragic scene of the crew's increasing desperation as they face a battle against the elements and their own mortality.
The second half of the song takes a different turn as they find safety in a nearby inn. However, their peace is short-lived as a barroom brawl breaks out, adding to the already existing chaos. The lyrics emphasize the fragility of life and the fleeting nature of time. "Før vi våkner skal vi dø" (Before we wake, we will die) serves as a reminder that life is short and that we must live it to the fullest.
The song resonates with many audiences as it highlights the unpredictable nature of life and how fleeting it can be. The use of vivid imagery and metaphors paints a clear picture of the dangers the crew faced, making the listener appreciate the harsh realities of the situation.

We found a tavern and settled down
Her kunne alle ta en øl i fred
Here everyone could have a beer in peace
By accident, I knocked over a glass
And that's how everything went down the drain
Knives flew from all sides as bottles smashed and blood spilled
The cook knocked out the teeth of a girl he mistook for a fairy
Bruised and battered, we escaped with pockets full of the tavern's spirits
But from the harbor, we saw the ship sail away without us
Før vi våkner skal vi dø
Before we wake up, we will die
