Nevermind
Various Artists Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Absolution is out of the question
It makes no sense to apologize
The words I thought, I brought
I left behind

So nevermind, all over but the shouting
It's just a waste of time
Nevermind, all over but the shouting
It's just a waste of time

I'm not ready as I'll ever be
I climb the walls, I fall into the sea
I'm not ready
As I'll ever be

And I suppose your guess
Is more or less as bad as mine

All over but the shouting
It's just a waste of time
Nevermind, all over but the shouting
It's just a waste of time

And I suppose your guess
Is more or less as bad as mine

You oughta tell me
You oughta say if you're not sure
You oughta tell me
You've got to help me remember

Nevermind, all over but the shouting
It's just a waste of time
Nevermind, all over but the shouting
It's just a waste of time

Nevermind, nevermind
Nevermind, nevermind

The words I thought, I brought
I left behind so nevermind

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Nevermind" by Various Artists is quite ambiguous and can be interpreted in various ways. However, one recurring theme in the lyrics is the concept of letting go and moving on. The song opens with the line "Absolution is out of the question, it makes no sense to apologize," indicating that the singer has come to terms with the fact that their actions cannot be undone. They reflect that despite having thought about the words they spoke, they have left them behind and moved on. The recurring refrain "Nevermind, all over but the shouting, it's just a waste of time" reinforces this theme of moving on and not dwelling on past events.

The second half of the song is more reflective, as the singer admits that they are not ready for what's to come. The lines "I climb the walls, I fall into the sea, I'm not ready as I'll ever be" may suggest feelings of anxiety and uncertainty about the future. The chorus then comes back in with the same message of letting go and not getting caught up in the past, even if the future is uncertain.

The final lines of the song suggest a desire for clarity and communication, as the singer pleads with someone to help them remember. The lyrics "You've got to help me remember" may be interpreted as a plea for someone to remind them of an important moment that they fear they may forget.

Overall, "Nevermind" is a reflective song about moving on from past events and not dwelling on them, even in the face of uncertainty about the future.

@illcomeupwithacreativename4096

as a MASSIVE fan of both David Bowie and Nirvana, my favorite one was easily Something in the Way lol. I would really love to see a video where the theme was "doing x album/song/etc but in the style of different Bowie albums/eras". just for the sake of an easy example, I'll use Nevermind.

Teen Spirit would be in the original style obviously
In Bloom would be weirdo psych pop meets art rock like Space Oddity
Come As You Are would be experimental psych rock like The Man Who Sold the World
Breed would be theatrical and epic piano based pop rock like Hunky Dory
Lithium in the glammy art rock Ziggy era
Polly would be soul inspired pop rock like Young Americans
Territorial Pissings would be manic experimental funk rock like Station to Station
Drain You would be in the ambient synth-infused art rock of Low
etc etc
eventually you would work up to a version of Something in the Way (or possibly Endless, Nameless?) in the style of Blackstar.

idk lmao, just my two cents/nerdy rant/comment essay that no one will read 💀💀💀

Ozzy polly, probably. How about doing Paranoid as the next album seeing as this year is the 50th anniversary? Great work.

POV: you land in an alternate universe where nirvana doesn’t exist but their songs do

So hell

@luiss.r.8328

Well, if you think that Kurt is dead and Nirvana can't be without him... Sounds very similar :(
