The term Various Artists is used in the record industry when numerous singers and musicians collaborate on a song or collection of songs. Most often on Last.fm, compilation album tracks appear under the name of Various Artists erroneously because the individual artist is not listed in the album's ID3 information.

Sometimes, single releases may be credited to Various Artists when their profits are going to charity and, usually in high-profile cases, are sometimes known by a group name. Examples include Band Aid with their releases of Do They Know It's Christmas? and USA for Africa with We Are The World.

Various Artists is also an actual performance name for Torsten Pröfrock, who runs the German DIN label. Torsten performs also as Dynamo, Erosion, Resilent, Traktor besides some others. He's a good friend of Robert Henke and since the Fall of 2004, he is a member of Monolake.

Various Artists was also a short-lived Bristol punk band formed by brothers Jonjo and Robin Key (originally from Birmingham). Other members were also simultaneously in Art Objects who went on to become The Blue Aeroplanes, the latter the Key brothers also co-wrote some songs and were involved in. When Various Artists imploded, the Key brothers went on to form Either / Or.

Various Artists also appear on tracks from musical theater soundtracks, due to the nature of having many cast members on one song, as well as an ensemble in some cases.

My father passed I never knew until I was in yr 12. A whole family missed him sort of. I'm very sad that torment and sabotages of things a person needs can be used for entertainment.
I've lost my privacy and in my darkest non destructive hours I've been recorded and edited.
Not sure what is the purpose but I've lost 2 brilliant and incredibly loved children.
Full time study committed and successful recovery has not been any sort of deterrent for abuse .
All groups and community providers never provided a way to make amends.
I self medicate in private trying not to inflame the mob of the good.
The needle and the damage done.
Betrayed and laughed at .
Nothing stops the groups addiction to making me look as bad as possible.
I'm sure this not actually real as I have asked many loved and appreciated people.

@@kevinmichael9482 also I just had cervical spine fusion with screws, rods and a titanium plate in the base of my skull to decompress my spinal cord so that I won't end up a quadriplegic. I've been diligent about the pain meds, because there's no way that I could have gotten through this without pain meds. I've been diligent about it though, even keeping track of what time I take each dose. I can't wait until I can get off of them again and go right back to my Suboxone. Like my status, I have a high tolerance for her medication and a low tolerance for pain. The neurosurgeon said this is one of the most painful surgeries that he does. Now I have to have my lower back done for a pinched nerve, but that will probably be a cakewalk compared to this.

This short song encompasses my whole life. I'm clean now, on methadone and for me, that's clean. Some may argue I'm not clean and technically they're right because I am addicted still. BUT I'm not the fiend I used to be. I thank God that I got caught up again several years ago and basically had no other choice than to get back on methadone. I used to hear people say things like that "I thank God" stuff and I didn't get it. I get it now though. I really GET it. We only get one life. It's not all about me anymore. I have a 18 y/o daughter that I'd love to have back in my life someday but she's not coming back if I'm getting high. I lost custody when she was 3 which fueled my addiction even more but I deserved to lose custody bc the dope most definitely came before her or anything/anybody else. My parents are getting older. 30 years blew by and here I am with a clear head and conscience now and realizing that I may only have another 15-20 years with them, if I'm blessed to have them around that long. None of this mattered at all when I was using. I didn't talk to or see any of them for years. So sad. I regret wasting all those decades. So I thank God my back was up against the wall again and the only choice I really had was to get back on the clinic. I'm rambling because this song has always brought up some serious feelings in me. The 1st time I heard it, I was 16 and had just gotten into heroin and the girl I was hanging with, her older brother used to play this song. He was also the one who'd get it for us til we figured it out ourselves. So flash forward, I'm 44 years old and this song just brings up so many feelings. If you read this far, thanks for bearing with my rambling. Hah. I wish all of you peace ✌ and ❤.

I'm right there with you, I've been on Suboxone for ten years, and I am 59 years old. I will stay on this low dose until the day that I die if I'm allowed to, because for the first time in my life I'm able to pay my bills on time, have a little bit of what I want, and even save some money. Nobody has the right to judge us for doing what we have to do to stay alive and function.

Been 10yrs since I touched the needle but still on meds to keep me from relapsing. Lost so many friends I can't think about it without tearing up. Worst of all I couldn't be there for my lil bro when he needed me most and the ashes around my neck are all that is left of him. All the overdoses, fights, gunfights, pure hell to get high and I survived but my amazing brother lost his life and he wasn't a junkie. I'd do anything to switch places with him. I'm so sorry Nick, the damage is done

I’m 24 and 7 years clean. Started shooting when I was 15. Didn’t care about anything. Needles were my version of cutting.

I won’t ever forget the things I saw on that path. It gives you a perspective of how things could be worse

I’ve lose Many friends to heroin addiction and swore I’d never use needles. Last year I got addicted to crystal north meth when I was off my psych meds and broke up with my fiancé. Never dreamed I’d Be a meth addict in my life I would make fun of them. I broke the daily habit and was sober for three months from alcohol (my ten year love affair) and meth. I recently had a mental health decline and was manic and picked back up slamming the drug intravenously and it’s brought me to my knees but I am sober today and have a fire to keep fighting and never give up. I have to survive, I refuse to be another slave to the drugs, another statistic. I’m on my way to the hospital now because I think I have an abscess from a missed shot. I wish I never tried it when I was drunk it’s like a door I can’t close no matter what but I have faith that someday I’ll be happy and sober and free. Stay strong everyone. I want to make it to 30 years old this yesr

Hey, I read your comment and it really hit home for me. I hope you're doing better now than you were when you posted it. Just wanted to say, using doesn't make you a bad person. You can use and still be a decent human. Don't let anybody, including yourself, make you feel like you're less than because you may make some less than perfect choices. No matter what happens today, tomorrow has the potential to be better. And your mistakes don't define you. You can change things if you really want to, you just have to start somewhere, even if it's deciding to drop the needle for hot rails instead. It's not the same and it's not a solution but it's a start. I believe in you, stranger on the internet, and I hope one day you'll come back and reply telling me you finally made it where you want to be.

It’s about guitarist Danny Whitten, and maybe roadie Bruce Barry, whose story Neil told in “Tonight’s the Night.” Both men died within a year or so of the release of “Needle and the Damage Done.”

My sister died from the needle then my mom 3 weeks later from giving her CPR after back surgery. Spinal fluid leak which led to sepsis. Found my sister then watched my mom pass.
