"Noodles, don't noodle"
"I'm not hungry"
"There is no secret ingridient..."
"That's the thing, Shen. Wounds heal"
"I'm your son..."
"The more you take, the less you have"
"I don't gotta turn you into warriors, I gotta turn you into you!"
"You being around doesn't mean less to me, it means more for Po"
"I AM the Dragon Warrior."

So many inspirational quotes from a legendary series.

@Mikle this got me looking into the production history of the score

apparently, Zimmer was the one who was first tasked with composing the score early in the development, and after some screenings, Katzenberg brought on Powell to compose additional material

the generally acknowledged dichotomy between the two composers is that Zimmer brought the epic/emotional stuff.... and Powell brought the more bouncy fun comedy material

but yeah, for some reason I've always credited Powell more on Panda

I do love Powell (ever since Face/Off), but it's not as if I'm not a fan of Zimmer's work as well

@Hollowshield Your opinion is as valid as anyone else's... I might bring up fine points on which you can re-think it... BUT that's also part of how we all learn...

Our opinions are well founded in experience and "correct" until we find something flawed about them... Then we refine them, understand how we'd arrived to the original and progressed to the newer... and move on.

Movies using great audio is a sneaky part of the technical tools... AND as Cinefix pointed out "sneaks into your brain"... Meaning that when it's truly done well, you (audience) never give it a second thought... It's just "background music"... It's some time later when someone plays "The Empire Theme" on a keyboard and you immediately remember Darth Vader coolly strolling through a fire-fight and know INSTINCTIVELY he's a horrible villain... THEN you start to think about it.

Of course, as the movies get "better" so too, audiences get more difficult to please, we also learn and build on our understanding... SO they have to find new tricks... refine old ones... and around it goes.

Anyway, it's far more effective conversation to share and ask questions or point out some inconsistency than it is to insult and scream or put all caps how "YOU ARE SO WRONG!!! ARG!!!" or something...

I can understand how you arrived at your conclusion in the original post. It's an easy conclusion to make... Nothing worthy of disrespect. I don't doubt many people also feel the same way.

Thank YOU for reading along, and responding... ;o)

This movie (specifically this scene) actually affected me a lot when I was younger. Having lost both parents, I always found it strange that every Disney character had gone through similar things, I was always like "is this super common? Like, I relate, but do alot of other people?"

But it was always, "You get over it." Or "It gets better." Like in the Lion King, Simba just has a conversation with his cloud dad, beats the bad guy with the awesome song, and is pretty much good. But it was always different in real life, you don't beat a bad guy to end the movie, you just keep going, looping, thinking, crying.

And then I saw Kung Fu Panda 2, and this scene I saw something finally do it in a meaningful way. Po doesn't beat up his pain and his past. He doesn't win, he doesn't change his past, he accepts it. It's what you do next that matters. Beating Shen is secondary to the trauma. It's all wrapped up in this scene.

Seeing a character I loved go through similar things and truly deal with it in a real way really did help me understand my own way forward.

Who knew Jack Black Panda movie would actually change my life? Sick.

Po's backstory being that he was sent away from a dying village by his parents and taken in by a very loving father, where he eventually learns that he is special and extremely powerful and the second film being about him learning about his past home in order to reconcile with it, save the world, and become a symbol of hope does in fact make Kung Fu Panda the best theatrical Superman adaptation

The scene with his mom ALWAYS makes me tear up a little, but that has nothing on the scene when he comes home and sees Mr. Ping again. Mr. Ping asks him, "Did you find out who you are?" and Po responds, while getting audibly choked up a little, he says, "I'm your son".
I DIE EVERY TIME. That seen kills me for so many reasons

Please read at least three books of the Bible. The first book of each testament and one you chose yourself. As you do practice forgiveness. That’s an important key most miss. The Bible is truth. Jesus Christ is lord
