Let You Go
Venus In Flames Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And time flies when you're having fun
You said our love was like a sweet crime
But it's been our prison for too long
Maybe I'm going crazy
But I'm going with the flow
And I don't know where it'll take me
Well now I'll pack my things and go girl
And start a new life on the road
I know tomorrow I'll be sorry
Because that's the way it allways goes
In Venus In Flames' song "Let You Go," the singer reflects on a past relationship that was once filled with joy and excitement. They reminisce about the good times they had together, acknowledging that time seemed to pass quickly when they were happy. However, the singer realizes that their love, once described as a sweet crime, has become a prison, trapping them in unhappiness.
Feeling their sanity slipping away, the singer decides to go with the flow and embrace the uncertainty that lies ahead. They are unsure where this new path will lead them, but they plead with their heart to release the grip it has on the past. Recognizing that staying in this stagnant relationship is not healthy, the singer decides to gather their belongings and embark on a new life on the road. They anticipate regretting this decision in the future, as they believe that's just the way things always go.
Overall, "Let You Go" explores themes of nostalgia, regrets, and the struggle to break free from destructive patterns in a relationship. It captures the bittersweet realization that sometimes it is necessary to let go of what once brought us joy in order to find true happiness and personal growth.
