Cinderella Stay in My Arms
Vera Lynn Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Stay in my arms, Cinderella
While the clock is striking I'll hold you.
At the stroke of twelve don't run away,
Oh can't you hear my heart; it begs you
To stay in my arms, Cinderella,
Maybe I'm that fellow prince Charming.
Since I've met you I've had one design,
Your wedding shoes placed next to mine,
Midnight of midnights, and so divine,
Cinderella stay in my arms.
A few minutes to midnight
At the ball all the crowd were swaying,
Two charming people went dancing by,
And I heard him saying,
Stay in my arms Cinderella
While the clock is striking I'll hold you.
At the stroke of twelve don't run away,
Oh can't you hear my heart; it begs you
To stay in my arms, Cinderella,
Maybe I'm that fellow prince Charming.
Since I've met you I've had one design,
Your wedding shoes placed next to mine,

Midnight of midnights, and so divine,
Cinderella stay in my arms.

This is truly a rare piece. Vera Lynn with the Six Debutantes and Rhythm. Dec.21, 1938. Decca F 6903. The Ambrose recording of this song, being the one heard most, was recorded Nov 5 1938. Vera Lynns voice is as the finest virtuoso. Simply stunning. Thank you for posting.

The voice and musicality of Vera Lynn was probably a one time wonder. Until now, it has not been surpassed.
