Throughout 2009, as work on the album progressed, Vernian Process sought out additional members in order to play shows to support the upcoming release of Behold the Machine, as well as record new material for future albums. Zarate joined in 2009, followed by Fargo, Figueroa, and Thomas in the latter half of 2009 and early 2010. They also feature Erica "Unwoman" Mulkey on most of their live performances. In early 2011 Free Fargo left the project, and a few short months later drummer Eugene Dryer III joined in his place.
Behold the Machine was released on October 1, 2010.
Vernian Process' musical influences range from Post-Punk/New Wave, Prog-Rock, Classic Industrial, Darkwave, Deathrock, Trip-Hop, Dreampop, Cabaret, Neo-Classical (and many more) filtered through a dimly lit Victorian lens. At times, epic, militant, and mechanical. While equally pastoral, serene, uplifting and positive when it chooses to be.
Vernian Process attempts to address collective human issues in the context of a dark, and whimsical 19th Century setting.
The project has featured guest contributions from Pasha Smith, Mitzi Jones, Malcom Schreeck of the Victorian Synthpunk band Unextraordinary Gentlemen, and Allison Curval of the group The Clockwork Dolls.

Reap the wild wind
Reap the wild wind
Reap the wild wind
A finger points to show a scene (take my hand, take my hand)
Another face where mine had been (take my hand, take my hand)
Take it all
You take my hand and give me your friendship
I'll take my time and send you my slow reply
Give me an inch, and I'll make the best of it
Take all you want and leave all the rest to die
Reap the wild wind
A footprint haunts an empty floor (take my hand, take my hand)
A fading coat that I once wore (take my hand, take my hand)
Oh, a desolation where I once lived
I have seen in times gone by
I have felt
A different shadow on the wall
A stranglehold on a certain feeling
You take my hand and give me your friendship
I'll take my time and send you my slow reply
Give me an inch, and I'll make the best of it
Take all you want and leave all the rest to die
Reap the wild wind
Reap the wild wind
You take my hand and give me your friendship
I'll take my time and send you my slow reply
Give me an inch, and I'll make the best of it
Take all you want and leave all the rest to die
Reap the wild wind
The song “Reap The Wild Wind” by Vernian Process has a vivid imagery of the theme of time and loss. The first verse talks about the transience of life through the metaphor of a finger pointing to show a scene – the idea that nothing stays the same and everything is fleeting. The repetition of “take my hand” suggests a plea for someone to hold on to a fleeting moment in time. The second verse continues the theme of loss through the imagery of a footprint haunting an empty floor and a fading coat once worn. The singer has seen and felt the passage of time and its effects on his life. The chorus “Reap the wild wind” is a metaphor for embracing life’s challenges – taking risks and making the most out of life.
The third verse talks about a “different shadow on the wall” and a “stranglehold on a certain feeling” which suggests a sense of longing or regret. The use of the phrase “I'll take my time and send you my slow reply” implies that the singer needs to carefully consider his response to the transience of life. The final chorus is a repetition of the first, emphasizing the importance of seizing the moment and making the most out of life.
