Damone was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Rocco and Mamie (Damone) Farinola, Italian immigrants from Bari, Italy. His father was an electrician and his mother taught piano. I searched and searched for this, and managed to find it on Amazon. Made my day now, as I can play it on youtube. Such a beautiful recording by, as Frank Sinatra once said "the best pipes in the business". Brings tears to my eyes. Why was Vic Damone not celebrated the way Frank was I will never understand. This was such an important part of my growing up. I was in high school and remember going to the Crown Room that year with my friends. I loved the movie and would look for
the locations in the film in the city. I'm now leading tours of SF Moving Movie tour/on tourbus, that I created 12 yrs ago with movie clips. I have 3 clips from this movie on my tour. It was one of the few films; filmed entirely in the city and captures the elegance and sophistication of The City... I would love to see a more updated version of this song. Maybe Chris Isaak?
