BagBak
Vince Staples Lyrics

This is for my future baby mama
Hope your skin is black as midnight
I'll take you out that Honda
I can put you in a Benz
I can balance out your chakras
Fornication is a sin, we can fuck all night regardless
Our father art in heaven, as I pray for new McLarens
Pray the police don't come blow me down 'cause of my complexion
Everybody think they know me now
'Cause I'm chicken-checkin'
Negro, you are not my homie
How dare you think it's different
Boy, you trippin'

Gas break 'n dip, the cash came, I flipped
And stacked that, yeah I stacked that past the ceiling
So sacrilegious, don't ask to chat
And don't ask for pictures, bagbak I'm trippin'
(Bagbak, better back, back, you don't know me)
(Better bagbak, better back, back, you don't know me)
(Better bagbak, better back, back, you don't know me)
(Bagbak, better back, back, you don't know me, homie)

Boy I'm buoyant, we are
Floating on them peons
Go in 'til they take my bro'nem out them CDCRs
Prison system broken, racial war commotion
Until the president get ashy, Vincent won't be votin'
We need Tamikas and Shaniquas in that Oval Office
Obama ain't enough for me, we only getting started
The next Bill Gates can be on Section 8 up in the projects
So 'til they love my dark skin
Bitch I'm goin' all in

Gas break 'n dip, the cash came, I flipped
And stacked that, yeah I stacked that past the ceiling
So sacrilegious, don't ask to chat
And don't ask for pictures, bagbak I'm trippin'
(Bagbak, better back, back, you don't know me)
(Better bagbak, better back, back, you don't know me)
(Better bagbak, better back, back, you don't know me)
(Bagbak, better back, back, you don't know me, homie)

They found it
Depth close to 3,230 feet
A deep dive, but within acceptable range

Clap your hands if the police ever profiled
You ain't gotta worry, don't be scary 'cause we on now
Ain't no gentrifying us, we finna buy the whole town
Tell the one percent to suck a dick, because we on now
We on now, we on now
Tell the one percent to suck a dick, because we on now
Tell the government to suck a dick, because we on now
Tell the president to suck a dick, because we on now
We on now
We on now
Tell the one percent to suck a dick, because we on now
Tell the president to suck a dick, because we on now
Tell the government to suck a dick, because we on now
We on now
We on now
We on now
We on now
We on now
We on now

We on now
We on now

Overall Meaning

In "BagBak," Vince Staples talks about his desire for change, both in himself and in society. In the first verse, he addresses his future baby mama, hoping her skin is black and promising to take her out of her current situation. He also talks about balancing her chakras and the sin of fornication, but also seems to recognize the societal pressure placed on him as a black man, praying that he won't be shot by the police.

In the second verse, Staples addresses the issues of race and the prison system in America, calling for more diversity in politics and recognizing that change can come from unexpected places. He also speaks to those who have faced police profiling, encouraging them to not be afraid and remember that they're in a position of empowerment.

Overall, "BagBak" is a call for empowerment and change, both on a personal and societal level. Staples recognizes the limitations placed on him and his fellow black Americans, but also acknowledges the power and potential for growth and success.

@GarageMob

how can people say this beat sucks? yes it's different from his usual shit, but he's still fucking slaying it. I dig it.

@Rembrandtswagster

The beat is garbage

@Jbourbz

Rembrandt ever heard of grime?

@MergatroidS

"yes it's different from his usual shit, but he's still fucking slaying it"

Okay? Then the beat is still trash. He's just slaying it despite itself. Beat isn't even all that bad to me, but I don't understand what you were trying to prove with this comment.

@blazul

there were so many more words you could've used to describe vince's flow and lyricism, why did you have to use slay?

@brianc9936

Princess Greg vince always using different type of beats on every project

Been bumping this song all day and I was honestly shocked when I came to the comment section and saw people calling the beat trash. That rough gritty synth line is dope as fuck! Kinda reminds me of some Grime shit with less bounce to it/less bass. Vince killed it too

@idcidk9

Word I was thinking that everyone would fuck w this. The production on point. The bars are crazy. The flow is wild. "We need tamikas and sheniquas in the Oval Office" come on this shit fire

@gstev6812

Grime fan checking in, this song is fire. Not familiar with too much of vince staples either just the big songs. Does he usually go in like this?

@ScottVeggies

I think the beat is dope. Reminds me of "Wanna Fight" from the movie Only God Forgives. Vince kills it as usual.
