All Who Are Thirsty
Vineyard Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

All who are thirsty
All who are weak
Come to the fountain
Dip your heart in the stream of life
Let the pain and the sorrow
Be washed away
In the waves of his mercy
As deep cries out to deep
(We sing)

Come Lord Jesus come (3x)

Holy Spirit come (3x)
As deep cries out to deep (2x)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Vineyard's song All Who Are Thirsty are a call for those who are feeling weak, disheartened, or in pain to come to the fountain and let their hearts be washed away with the stream of life. The idea here is that the fountain symbolizes God's love and grace, and by immersing oneself in it, it is hoped that one's suffering will be eased. The lyrics speak of the waves of God's mercy, which are so deep that they can reach the depths of one's soul. The song encourages listeners to let their cries of pain and despair be replaced with cries for the Lord to come and embrace them with His love. The repetition of the phrase "Come Lord Jesus come" is a statement of faith, in which the singer is literally asking for Jesus to come and heal them.

The song is about finding comfort in God's love and grace, and is a reminder that even in the darkest moments of life, we can turn to God for help. The lyrics encourage people to let go of their pain and allow the Holy Spirit to work in their lives. The song offers hope that no matter how weak we may feel, we can find strength in God's love and grace.

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we profess

Jesus understands every weakness of ours, because he was tempted in every way that we are. But he did not sin

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. - Matthew 5:6

It's so strange how the mind works. I used to hate this song because I would hear it all the time as a kid because of the CD my Dad would play all the time. But here I am, coming back to it years later with a nostalgic love for it. I don't really understand it, nor can I explain it, but I actually kind of love this song now.
