I SEE YOU, NANCY LEE
I HOPE THAT YOU SEE ME
I SEE YOU, NANCY LEE
I HOPE THAT YOU SEE ME
I KNOW I’M NOT THE ONLY OTHER MAN
WHO WANTS YOUR HAND TO BE IN HIS HAND
BUT I DON’T JUST WANT I NEED YOU
NANCY LEE

Country girl sitting on a porch squeezing lemons
Taking what’s given and making lemonade
I was tearing down dusty road back to the city
When I crossed her porch and there I stayed stayed

And I tell you
I won’t looking for it no but
It came hunting me
How do I get what I get
Honey stung the bee

I SEE YOU, NANCY LEE
I HOPE THAT YOU SEE ME
I SEE YOU, NANCY LEE
I HOPE THAT YOU SEE ME
I KNOW I’M NOT THE ONLY OTHER MAN
WHO WANTS YOUR HAND TO BE IN HIS HAND
BUT I DON’T JUST WANT I NEED YOU
NANCY LEE

City girls never brought what you were bringing
Precisely why I never fell in
She don’t car where around the world I’ve been sing
Nothing is nothing less it ends with amen

That’s why I tell you
I won’t looking for it no but
It came hunting me
How do I get what I get
From down on one knee

I SEE YOU, NANCY LEE
I HOPE THAT YOU SEE ME
I SEE YOU, NANCY LEE
I HOPE THAT YOU SEE ME
I KNOW I’M NOT THE ONLY OTHER MAN
WHO WANTS YOUR HAND TO BE IN HIS HAND

BUT I DON’T JUST WANT I NEED YOU
NANCY LEE

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Vintage Trouble's song "Nancy Lee" express the intense desire of the singer for a woman named Nancy whom he has just met. He hopes that Nancy fells likewise and sees him too. He acknowledges that he is not the only man who wants Nancy's attention but he knows he needs her. The singer describes himself as someone who has come to the country from the city, and Nancy is a "country girl sitting on a porch squeezing lemons." He never expected to meet her, but their paths crossed and he couldn't resist staying. He compares Nancy with city girls and explains that she possesses something special that city girls never had, which is why he has never fallen for any of them.

The lyrics of the song are a tribute to the power of attraction, and how it can catch you unaware. The singer didn't expect to fall for Nancy, he wasn't looking for love, but sometimes it just finds You. The song explores the universality of attraction, the way that a chance encounter with a person can change your life, and how finding the right person can make everything feel right.

A few days ago I heard an interview with a german rockabilly band: "We're rather good vintage musicians than crappy new electro-dance-pop-idiots. We know what we do has been done before. But we can't think of better music. Maybe we're idiots." So true :D
