Their debut album is Unmap and was released on September 22, 2009. It reached number 92 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. A second album, Repave, was released on September 3, 2013.
The project originally came together with songs being written in 2005. It was not recorded until the fall of 2008 in Fall Creek, Wisconsin, USA.

Justin Vernon is an undisputed musical genius. Fit along with such names as Brian Willson. An absolute living legend.

Repave is still one of my favorite albums ever. One of the few records I love listening to in full — backwards, forwards, on repeat

“It’s speaks to the fact that we’ve been doing this for so long.
And seeing us grow as a band, and changing our process, spending more time here together at one spot even though we all work on our own has totally informed us.
This place is kind of a metaphor on it own. Just like what is possible. How to get better, how to write better songs, how to extended. Repave”
Amazing quote by the amazing Justin Vernon

Mr. Vernon, You have change my whole perspective of music on how I listen and take it in. Ever since Bon Iver you are all I have listen to, My grade 11 art class you're one thing that inspired me. I drew a picture of you and I did my final project using one of your songs "Holocene." Its on my youtube channel if you wish to see. Thank you for changing my life completely.

Justin Vernon as an artist is such an inspiration...this album represents the finishing of a circle. First, you have something you think is magical (Deyarmond Edison), then it breaks (For Emma, Forever Ago/Blood Bank), then you have a re-discovery period (Bon Iver), and then, at some point, you have to move on, re-create, and perfect (Repave).
@mattjonez
omg this album is going to be the best things my ears have heard in a loooooong time.
@PotatoIsNotCute
I'm so happy to hear that early version of the ending of Almanac. Those last three minutes of that song are honestly powerful as all shit.
@BradyKimball
As a promotional video for an album, I would say this sets the bar pretty high. Great work!

This man is such an inspiration to me. Wish I could do the things he does
