Let it Snow Let it Snow
Vonda Shepard Lyrics

Oh, the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

It doesn't show signs of stopping,
And I've brought some corn for popping;
The lights are turned way down low,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

When we finally kiss good night,
How I'll hate to go out in the storm;
But if you really hold me tight,
All the way home I'll be warm!

Oh the fire is slowly dying,
And, my dear, we're still good-bye-ing.
But as long as you love me so,

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Overall Meaning

The song "Let it Snow Let it Snow" captures the cosy feeling of winter amidst the cold and snow. In the first verse, the singer is describing the winter weather outside as frightful but the fire inside is delightful, making the listener feel warm and protected from the harshness of the outside world. The second verse tells us that the snow doesn't show any signs of stopping and the atmosphere within the house is perfect for popping some corn near the twinkling Christmas lights. The refrain repeats the phrase, "Let it snow" to convey that the singer is content being indoors with their loved one, regardless of the weather conditions outside.

The bridge, however, reveals a different layer to the song's meaning. Even though being cozy indoors is described as idyllic, the singer acknowledges the storm and how they would hate to venture out in it. However, the presence of their loved one provides a warmth that cannot be coldly exaggerated by any blizzard or snowstorm. The third verse describes how the fire is slowly burning out and how the singer does not want to say goodbye, but because they know they are loved, the winter season becomes more tolerable.
