Silly Me
WSTR Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I need to call it quits before I lose a friend
I feel so wrong now
Have for so long now
I try to brush it off but silly me I'm at it again
I'm a state a case infatuated
Possibly
Are dime a dozen these days
I'll be heavily intoxicated
Probably
It trends these days when I'm away
We both head back to basics
I'll say
Are we close to the end?
Yeah, you best just be friends
I'm breaking
What's going on?
I try to brush it off but silly me I'm at it again
I need to call it quits before I lose a friend
I feel so wrong now
Have for so long now
I try to brush it off but silly me I'm at it again
So here's a tip for free
You better use it wisely
Scrap what I said last week
We'll talk when we're dead just ignore me
Roll in after dark
One too many shots
I'm oblivious to this until you fill me in
I sleep with my door open
Just so you can stumble in and we can go again
Can't get up cos we're baked
Sleep in creased sheets for days
Yeah, I'll never find my space
'Cause I know you're filling it
Call me up
Common ground
Give it ten we'll be sound
Now we both know
What's going on
I try to brush it off but silly me I'm at it again
I need to call it quits before I lose a friend
I feel so wrong now
Have for so long now
I try to brush it off but silly me I'm at it again
I try to take a shot so pity me or just pretend
It's getting boring just ignore me till we're dead
I feel so wrong now
Have for so long now
I try to brush it off but silly me I'm at it again
I hate to be that guy
So I try
And I try
To hold it what she says
We're falling to pieces
I try to brush it off but silly me I'm at it again
I need to call it quits before I lose a friend
I feel so wrong now
Have for so long now
I try to brush it off but silly me I'm at it again
The song "Silly Me" by WSTR talks about a person who keeps making the same mistakes in a relationship despite knowing that their actions are not helping the situation. The lyrics mention feeling wrong for a long time and trying to brush it off, but the singer cannot help getting infatuated and heavily intoxicated, leading to repetitive phone calls and apologies. The song portrays the theme of recognizing that the person needs to break the cycle and let go of the relationship before losing a friend.
The chorus line "I try to brush it off but silly me I'm at it again" emphasizes the singer's repeated pattern of behavior, while the verse that mentions "Roll in after dark, One too many shots" shows their regret after seeing their lover again. The lyrics showcase the singer's awareness of their own mistakes, but an inability to stop themselves from repeating them.
Overall, the song conveys a message about the importance of recognizing toxic patterns in a relationship and letting go of them before it's too late. The song highlights the difficulty of breaking addictive patterns and the struggles of admitting that one is not good for the other person.

I’m digging it. I’m really enjoying WSTR’s new sound. For someone who started listening to pop/punk with New Found Glory, Sum 41 etc like 15+ years ago this is really refreshing...yet nostalgic. Can’t wait for their album.
@ju5tinr4y
these guys and The Story So Far are easily some of the best around right now.

@kevinvtoons
Theres a lot of people saying this sound sucks, that theyre changing etc. Sure, i love fast paced aggressive pop punk, but sometimes i miss this bouncy happy pop punk from early 2000 and just a few bands are doing it nowadays. So yep, if thats the direction theyre going for, im totally in.
@braddub8145
Yeah I mean let's face it, as a standard 2018 pop punk band, they were always going to be in like 5th or 6th place, whereas this sort of stuff they absolutely fucking nail it to the wall

@Daniel Wong good thing no one gives a shit what you think is acceptable or not
