King of the Beach features a complete rhythm section comprised of Stephen Pope and Billy Hayes, both formerly of the late Jay Reatard's touring band. They toured for almost a year straight until Hayes left the band for some time off. Jacob Cooper, former drummer of The Mae Shi, has since taken his place. After playing the major festival circuit, Nathan started his own record label Ghost Ramp and released the Life Sux EP on September 20th 2011.
On March 26, 2013 Wavves released their 4th studio album "Afraid of Heights" on Mom + Pop records. Jacob Cooper left the band in 2013. Brian Hill (The Soft Pack/The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower) began playing drums soon after.
Wavves' fifth album entitled "V" was released on October 2, 2015 through Ghost Ramp and Warner Bros. Records.
Summer Goth
Wavves Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I can't wait t'get it home I'm gonna wrap my arms round you
I can't wait to get it home gonna tell her that I love her
I can't wait to get it home gonna tell her I do
do you really want to see it
do you really want to let it go?
woooooo oooooooo oooooooo
The lyrics in Wavves's song Summer Goth may initially come across as confusing and cryptic. However, upon closer examination, it appears to be a tale of a person in a state of anticipation, waiting for the right moment to profess their love to their significant other. The first line, "Wait til the bottom of the barrel then I'll tell ya that I love you," suggests that the person is waiting for a time of desperation or uncertainty to reveal their feelings. Perhaps, they are waiting for an opportune moment where their significant other may be feeling down and low, making it easier for them to reveal their emotions.
The following lines reinforce this idea of anticipation, with the person eagerly waiting to get home and wrap their arms around their significant other. The repetition of the phrase "I can't wait to get it home" emphasizes the person's eagerness and impatience. The use of the word 'it' instead of 'her' or 'him' adds to the ambiguity of the situation, perhaps suggesting that the person may be unsure of their significant other's feelings towards them.
The final lines - "do you really want to see it, do you really want to let it go" - may be a plea or even a warning, asking the significant other if they are truly ready for the emotions that this revelation will bring. Overall, the lyrics of Summer Goth convey a sense of nervous excitement and anticipation, with the person waiting for the perfect moment to express their love.
