Heart Stop
Wax Tailor Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The boy rummaged through his records
Searching for a clue
Where was this path
How would he find it
He remembered that the rainbow would rise through the dust
Soon he felt drowsy
Hypnotized by the sound of a guitar strumming on an old record

I feel my heart stop
I've just got to catch my breath again
I feel my body rock
and tighten, I'm frightened, I'm falling off the edge

It's as if they're calling me
with the cadence of a flame
In the dark they honor me
Blowing storms that know my name

I feel my heart stop
I've just got to catch my breath again
I feel my body rock
and tighten, I'm frightened, I'm falling off the edge

In hieroglyphic vision
they're lying kneeling in the reeds
but what is it I'm hunting
that grows from just a seed

I feel my heart stop
I've just got to catch my breath again
I feel my body rock
and tighten, I'm frightened, I'm falling off the edge

If I pretend I'm melting
Melting in the wax

I turn the black to color
With his magic tracks

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Wax Tailor feat. Jennifer Charles's song Heart Stop tell the story of a boy who is searching for something, possibly a metaphorical path or direction in life. He rummages through his records, perhaps in search of inspiration or answers, and remembers that the rainbow would rise through the dust. This could signify hope or a positive outlook on his journey ahead. The boy becomes drowsy and is hypnotized by the sound of a guitar strumming on an old record, suggesting that music plays a significant role in his life and possibly serves as a source of comfort.

The chorus of the song describes a physical and emotional response to the journey the boy is on. He feels his heart stop, indicating a moment of intense emotion, and has to catch his breath again. His body rocks and tightens, and he is frightened and feels like he is falling off the edge. This could represent the fear and uncertainty that often accompany significant life changes or transitions.

The lyrics also mention hieroglyphic visions and hunting something that grows from just a seed. These lines suggest that the boy's journey is not just about finding direction in his own life, but also involves decoding symbols and seeking out new opportunities. The final lines of the song mention melting in the wax and turning the black to color with the magic tracks, which could represent the transformative power of music and art.

Wax Tailor with Ms Charles is the closest I've heard to that Lovage sound that made me love her.
I swear, it's the musical equivalent to chocolate covered strawberries, wine, and a cigarette.

@ju4408

All sprinkled with Lovage. I'm getting seeds to plant it this year to try. Just because.

@jacobbharrat7115

Yea man that’s a fact

Me too! 😁

@danmerritt990

After I see Wax Tailor tomorrow night, I will have seen every member of Lovage seperately. Dan the Automator and Kid Koala with Deltron 3030, Mike Patton with Mr. Bungle, and now Jennifer Charles with Wax Tailor. That's the icing on the cake for getting to freaking see Wax Tailor live!

@thefuzzgroove

une superbe titre porté par la voix sensuelle de Jennifer Charles qui nous faisait deja craquer avec Scratch d'Elysean fields ! une production de genie de Wax taylor ... belle réussite !
