10000 Miles
We Are The Empty Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Where you been
Ten thousand miles away
From your skin
Alone in outer space
Dead within
So who are you now
Medicine
Who are you now

Cause sometimes it hurts to feel anything at all
Yeah sometimes it hurts to feel anything at all

Ten thousand miles away from your soul
Yeah I'll watch you die, I'll watch you grow old
There ain't nothing in this world that can stop me, so bombs away
Ten thousand miles away from your dreams
Yeah I'll watch you cry, I'll watch you turn green
There ain't nothing in this world that can stop me, so bombs away
So bombs away

Aside from all the pain, it's all a game
I watched you walk away
With everything
So who are you now
Everything
Who are we now

Sometimes it hurts to feel anything
Yeah sometimes it hurts to feel anything
I said sometimes it hurts to feel anything at all

Ten thousand miles away from your soul
Yeah I'll watch you die, I'll watch you grow old
There ain't nothing in this world that can stop me, so bombs away
Ten thousand miles away from your dreams
Yeah I'll watch you cry, I'll watch you turn green
There ain't nothing in this world that can stop me, so bombs away
So bombs away

Ten thousand miles away from your soul
Yeah I watched you die

But there ain't nothing in this world that can stop me, so bombs away
Ten thousand miles away from your dreams
Yeah I'll watch you cry, I'll watch you turn green

There ain't nothing in this world that can stop me, so bombs away
So bombs away

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "10000 Miles" by We Are The Empty convey a sense of distance and detachment from one's own self and emotions. The opening lines, "Where you been, Ten thousand miles away, From your skin, Alone in outer space," suggest a feeling of being disconnected and lost. It's like the person has retreated from their own identity, feeling dead inside. The repetition of the question "Who are you now" highlights this sense of confusion and identity crisis.

The chorus, "Cause sometimes it hurts to feel anything at all, Yeah sometimes it hurts to feel anything at all," reveals the pain and vulnerability that comes with allowing oneself to feel emotions. It suggests that sometimes it feels easier to numb oneself and not engage with the intensity of emotions. The following lines, "Ten thousand miles away from your soul, Yeah I'll watch you die, I'll watch you grow old," portray the distance between the person's outer self and their inner essence. It implies the singer's distant observation of someone's life, as if they are detached and unaffected.

The phrase "There ain't nothing in this world that can stop me, so bombs away" serves as a metaphorical expression of the singer's determination to remain disconnected and unaffected. It suggests that nothing can prevent them from maintaining this emotional distance. The bridge section reveals a sense of betrayal and loss: "I watched you walk away, With everything, So who are you now, Everything, Who are we now." It conveys a feeling of being left behind and questioning the changing dynamics of a relationship.

Repeating the chorus emphasizes the painful nature of feeling, contrasting it with the distance and detachment expressed throughout the song. The closing line, "Yeah I watched you die, But there ain't nothing in this world that can stop me, so bombs away," suggests that even though the person may witness the emotional turmoil and struggles of others, they remain committed to keeping their distance. The repeated refrain of "So bombs away" signifies their determination to maintain their emotional detachment, despite the pain it may cause.

@Χρήστος Παπαχαραλαμπους It's definitely a love song.

I like to understand it like this:
It's a true love but the partner isn't feeling it (/right now). The speaker (who thinks/tells the lyrics) expresses their commitment to the love with their partner.

The meaning of the lyrics can be beautiful or really fucking creepy, depending how you look at it. The song could also be about stalking...

"Bombs away", something pilots would say when they dropped the bomb. The speaker forgives their partner/ wins over the pain and anger/ has hope that the relationship will be fixed.. or they turn into the bomb, their anger/sanity is about to explode (that would be the creepy version).

Just my two cents tho..

@Χρήστος Παπαχαραλαμπους the lyrics of our songs are abstract and there is more than one meaning so a big part of it is your interpretation 😁

Every song I’ve listened to from this band was all hard rock and roll.
Now, with a soft and progressive tone.....this is so beautiful.
I love it so much. 😍
