After their debut LP release, Highways, in 2012 the band started gaining national notoriety and laid the foundations of a loyal fan base. Reinforced by their most accomplished work to date, 2015’s Not A Chance EP, which was released through Panic State Records. The record’s single “Bridge Burner” quickly amassed over 1,000,000 plays on Spotify.
Based in Ottawa and collecting members from the far reaches of Eastern Canada, We Were Sharks continue to wield the full-force of Canadian alternative music. Through a penchant for blending melodic harmony with powerful dissonance they continue to produce infectious music. Even though these boys already have a lot of mileage under their belts, their book is far from written.

You can say you're right
But we all know you're wrong
So take your head out of your ass
And take a look around
You let us down
And you say you've got the heart for this
And we all know
Keep burning down bridges
That lead back to friends
Decisions that were made
You'll regret in the end
Keep burning down bridges
You keep burning down bridges
It must be nice to have yourself so fucking figured out
Too bad you don't know what
Being a friend is really all about
So take your head out of your ass
And take a look around
You let us down
And you say you got the heart for this
But I think that you don't
And we all know
But you
Keep burning down bridges
That lead back to friends
Decisions that were made
You'll regret in the end
Keep burning down bridges
You keep burning down bridges
You can say what you like
You can say what you want
Go ahead and sing the same old song
You can say what you like
You can say what you want
Go ahead and sing the same old song
Keep burning down bridges
That lead back to friends
Keep burning down bridges
You'll regret it in the end
Keep burning down bridges
You keep burning down bridges
Keep burning down bridges
Keep burning 'em down
Keep burning down bridges
You keep burning them down, down, down
Keep burning down bridges
You Keep burning down bridges
The lyrics to We Were Sharks's song Bridge Burner confront a relationship where one person continuously hurts and betrays their friends. The lyrics showcase a deep sense of disappointment towards the person who keeps burning down bridges that lead to friendships. The singer of the song constantly urges the person to take their head out of their ass, implying that they are not taking a good look at the damage they are causing. The person who keeps making bad decisions is accused of believing that they have the heart for friendship, but the singer implies that they do not. The lyrics suggest that this person is not considering others' feelings and is acting selfishly, only thinking about themselves.
