I've been down this
Road a million times
And I've even made the same mistakes
I made a list of all the things I try
Every dusty road
My vision takes
My strength has failed me
Somehow I know it's not
The end
I, lift up to you my cry
For mercy
I, lift up to you my cry
For help
I, I, I, I
Kujitahidi kwangu hakufai
Ikiwa ni nguvu zangu tu
Oaaah
Kifua mbele ili
Kujidai
Hakunupieleki kwenye
Ukuu
Haraka yangu ina
Mwisho
Heri nitazamie juu
I, lift up to you my cry
For mercy
I, lift up to you my cry
For help
I, lift up to you my cry
For mercy
I, lift up to you my cry
For help
I, I, I, I
Haraka yangu ina
Mwisho
Heri nitazamie juu
I, lift up to you my cry
For mercy
I, lift up to you my cry
For help
I lift my eyes to Jesus
My Saviour and
My King
I lift my eyes to Jesus
Giver of everything
I lift my eyes to Jesus
My Saviour and
My King
My Saviour and
My King
I lift my eyes to Jesus
Parapapa
I lift my eyes
I lift my eyes to Jesus
My Saviour and
My King
I lift my eyes to Jesus
Giver of everything
I lift my eyes to Jesus
My Saviour and
My King
I lift my eyes to Jesus
Parapapa
I lift my eyes
The lyrics of Webi's song "Help" are a plea for assistance and guidance in times of struggle and adversity. The opening lines acknowledge the singer's familiarity with difficult situations, having "been down this road a million times" and having made the same mistakes repeatedly. The singer expresses their determination to try different approaches and make an effort to improve by listing all the things they have tried, even though their efforts may seem futile. Their strength has waned, and they feel empty, but they still believe it's not the end.
The chorus serves as a desperate cry to a higher power for mercy and help. The repetition of "I, lift up to you my cry for mercy" emphasizes the urgent and sincere nature of the plea. The second verse presents the realization that relying solely on one's own strength and self-importance leads nowhere, and the singer must humbly lift their chest and look higher for guidance and greatness. The verse ends by acknowledging the finite nature of their rushing and urging them to look up instead.
The bridge of the song shifts focus to Jesus, as the singer acknowledges him as their savior, king, and giver of everything. The repetition of the phrase "I lift my eyes to Jesus" reinforces the surrender and reliance on a higher power for help and salvation. The song ends with a final repetition of this affirmation, emphasizing the singer's faith and trust in Jesus.
Overall, "Help" is a heartfelt and introspective song that expresses the universal struggle of finding strength and guidance in times of hardship. It acknowledges the limitations of personal efforts and highlights the importance of seeking help from a greater source.
