Lonely Girl
Weezer Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

My lonely girl
My lonely girl
Lonely girl
My lonely girl

So baby come on
I know how to dance
Why am I the only one who ever takes a chance?
So give it a try
You're not gonna die
Unless you refuse to live in higher way tonight

I'm lonely, so hold me
Can't you relate?

So open your arms
And let me come in
I'd never hurt you girl 'cause I would be a sin

I'm lonely, so hold me
Can't you relate?

I'm hurtin', I'm worthy
Can't you relate?

I know I'm scared
I know you're sad
I needed your help to realize it's not so bad

So open you're arms
And let me come in
I'd never hurt you girl 'cause I would be a sin

My lonely girl

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Weezer's song "Lonely Girl" express an intense sense of loneliness and longing for connection. The repeated refrain of "My lonely girl" and "Lonely girl" emphasizes the singer's isolation and the desperate desire for someone to be with them. The song seems to address a specific person the singer is interested in, and they are begging this person to give them a chance. The singer claims to know how to dance and takes chances, but feels like they are the only one putting themselves out there. They encourage the person they are interested in to take a risk and try living life in a different way, to not let fear hold them back.

The chorus of the song, "I'm lonely, so hold me. Can't you relate?" reveals the deep sense of isolation the singer feels. They are looking for someone to understand them and bring them comfort. The singer recognizes that the person they are interested in might be hurting as well and reassures them that they would never hurt them. The lines "I'm hurtin', I'm worthy" imply that the singer believes they are deserving of love and affection, even though they are struggling.

My lonely girl

So baby come on
I know how to dance
And I am the only one who ever takes a chance
Give it a try
You're not gonna die
Unless you refuse to live and hide away tonight

I'm lonely
So homely
Can you relate?

Open your arms
And let me come in
I'd never hurt you girl 'cause that would be a sin

I'm blurry
Unworthy
Can you relate?

I know you're scared
I know you're sad
I'm here to help you realize it's not so bad

I don't get a lot of what people are complaining about. This song kicks ass and this is coming from a 1st Gen Weezer fanboy. Out of all the songs I've heard from the album (Back to the Shack, Cleopatra, Foolish Father, Eulogy for a Rock Band, The British Are Coming, and this song) I can safely say that this is most likely going to be Weezer's best release since Maladroit, maybe even since Pinkerton. Who knows, this album might be a grower like Pinkerton was to many people. Stay positive, my friends :)

@Buttcakes15

People are complaining?

@IanZWhite00

People may dislike this song because it may feel a little more... I don't know how to put it from their perspective, cause I love the song. I guess they feel that not much work was put into it, while Cleopatra and The British Are Coming have many different unique parts and sounds.

@DamnedGamers

Ian White I could totally see that maybe they want something less simple, but some of the best Weezer songs are really simple. I don't know. Different strokes for different folks.

@umairidros

totally agree with u. this is the best weezer album after my fav 'Make Believe'. i'm a huge fan of power pop band..i love Ozma and Couple band from my country (u gotta check this band). This weezer album has its quality from my opinion. i keep listening everyday...every tracks never get me bored. wanna give 4.5 of 5
