Wells is also the recording project of Chicagoans Chris Howaniec and Zane Ranney, both members of now-defunct folk-rock band World's First Flying Machine. This Wells plays mid-to-downtempo rock, drawing from its influences in psych rock, slowcore, ambient and early-'90s emo. Chris Howaniec is the songwriter, arranger, vocalist and producer, playing all parts on their two EPs ("Wells" and "Feel Bad") except the drums, which Zane Ranney is infinitely better at.
Wells is also also the name of a former four-man group from Charlottesville, VA that disbanded in January 2006.

It seems so strange, since you are gone
'Til you return, I'll stay the same, dear
I'll still be true and walk alone.
By stars above, I swear to love you
With all the love I've ever known
While we're apart, you'll always own me
When teardrops start, I walk alone
The golden hours that we once knew
No matter where you are out yonder
I walk alone and think of you.
The flame of love is brightly burning
You know that I'm your very own
Each night I pray for your returning
But while you're gone, I walk alone
Wells's song "I walk alone" is a melancholic ballad that speaks about the feeling of loneliness and heartbreak when one's love is gone. Throughout the song, Wells expresses his longing for the one he loves and how much he misses their presence in his life.
In the first verse, Wells talks about how he walks alone where once he used to walk with his loved one. He says that it seems strange to him now that they are no longer together. However, Wells promises to stay the same until his love returns and reveals that he will continue to walk alone.
In the second verse, Wells pledges his love to his partner and swears by the stars above that he will always love them with all the love he has ever known. Likewise, Wells acknowledges that when he is away from his partner, they still own him and how every time he cries, he walks alone in his sorrow.
Throughout the chorus, Wells repeatedly emphasizes how he walks alone while he thinks of his partner. He longs for their return and even though he prays every night for their return, for now, he remains alone.
The song portrays the depth of feeling involved when heartbreak occurs. It conveys not only the loss of the loved one- the absence of their physical and emotional presence- but also the emptiness and loneliness that permeates every aspect of life in their absence.
