Whirlwind Heat Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Makes her want to die
Poor poor anouck she only 22 she's only 22
Anouck stands with you she does speak to you
Knees up to her chest she could care less
And anouck doesn't feel alright
And I feel a little uptight
What wrong or right
Anouck keeps inside she has a sneaky eye
She sees the secret side
Poor poor anouck she's slipping in the loop
You see I can't stop you
Anouck wants to hide she skips in a line hides behind a sign
The song "Purple" by Whirlwind Heat delves into the emotions of a young woman named Anouck who appears to be struggling internally. The lyrics describe Anouck as feeling uptight and strained to the point of wanting to cry and even die. The singer expresses sympathy towards her, noting that she is only 22 years old and is standing with them, but is clearly not feeling alright.
The lyrics evoke a sense of isolation, as Anouck is depicted sitting with her knees up to her chest and seemingly uncaring about her surroundings. The singer admits to feeling a little uptight as well, but cannot comprehend what is going on in Anouck's mind. The chorus suggests that Anouck keeps secrets hidden within, perhaps even from those closest to her, and is slipping into a kind of loop or cycle of negative emotions.
The final verse of the song describes Anouck wanting to hide, skipping in a line, and hiding behind a sign. While the exact cause of these feelings is not given, the song conveys a sense of empathy and understanding towards those who may be struggling with their mental health.
