After growing Skyharbor as one of India's biggest rock bands with songwriter Keshav Dhar, including taking the stage with acts such as Lamb of God and Deftones, the pair collaborated on Tompkins' new Contemporary Pop project with progressive and experimental music at its heart.
'Atone', the new album from WMBB, is masterfully built on organic, textured and cinematic sounds, with two opposing themes of loss and hope. Tompkins explains - "Whilst songs like "Tempest" and "Atone" focus on faith and forgiveness, others like "Rising Sun" and "An Ocean Away" linger on love and nostalgia; throwing the listener into a bygone world of having less and caring more. The front cover artwork captures the beauty of nature and the harsh realities of life: power and dominance. White Moth Black Butterfly represents that very same struggle."
The album was recorded across the globe at studios in India, the UK, US and Taiwan, bringing in their international roster of performers. This included the band's other writers: Randy Slaugh, the producer and string arranger for Skyharbor in the US, who has also worked with Devin Townsend, Architects and Periphery; and co-singer and lyricist Jordan Turner.
Heavy Heart
White Moth Black Butterfly Lyrics

You forgot me just like yesterday
But what must it feel like
Knowing that you left behind
A part of your blood and your soul?
When I hear whispering, whimpering
Tampering, shuffling, rhythmic disdain
When I need so much more
How does it feel to know
You can't make it on your own
With that dirty mark on a heavy heart?
How does it feel to lose
Every time you try to kiss me with a lie?
Restless you crawl into my mind
Calling to knock on the door
Wishing to be left alone in my thoughts
Without being kicked to the floor
When I hear whispering, whimpering
Tampering, shuffling, rhythmic disdain
I follow my way to the waterfall
When I need so much more
How does it feel to know
You can't make it on your own
With that dirty mark on a heavy heart?
How does it feel to lose
Everytime you try to kiss me with a lie?
Oh, how does it feel to know
You can't make it on your own
With that dirty mark on a heavy heart?
How does it feel to lose
Everytime you try to kiss me with a lie?
The lyrics of White Moth Black Butterfly's song "Heavy Heart" explore themes of abandonment, emotional pain, and deception. The opening lines suggest that the singer entered someone's life but was quickly forgotten, as if they were no longer important. This abandonment leaves the singer questioning how it must feel for the person who left behind a part of their own blood and soul, suggesting that the person who left may feel a sense of emptiness or regret for leaving something valuable behind.
The next set of lyrics talks about the singer's response to certain sounds, which evoke feelings of dissatisfaction and a longing for something more. The mention of whispering, whimpering, tampering, shuffling, and rhythmic disdain creates a sense of restlessness and unease. The singer follows their own path towards a waterfall, perhaps seeking a source of catharsis or emotional release. It implies that they are in search of something deeper and more meaningful in their life.
The chorus poses a series of rhetorical questions, inviting reflection on the feelings of the person who left. It questions how it feels to realize that they cannot survive or find fulfillment on their own. The mention of a "dirty mark on a heavy heart" suggests a burden of guilt or regret that they carry with them. Additionally, there is a mention of deception, as the person tries to kiss the singer with lies. This implies that the person may have been dishonest or manipulative in their interactions with the singer, adding to the emotional pain and frustration.
The following verse addresses the person who left, describing them as restless and trying to infiltrate the singer's thoughts. They long to be left alone in their own thoughts without being pushed aside or dismissed. This suggests a desire for validation and for their feelings to be acknowledged instead of being continuously disregarded.
The final repetition of the chorus intensifies the questions posed earlier, still focusing on the person who left. It asks again how it feels for them to realize that they cannot make it on their own, now emphasizing the heaviness of their heart. The "dirty mark" and the reference to losing every time they try to lie and deceive further highlight the consequences of their actions and their inability to find true connection or love.
Overall, "Heavy Heart" delves into the pain of abandonment, the longing for deeper connections, and the consequences of deception. It explores the emotions experienced by both the abandoned narrator and the person who left, inviting reflection on the consequences of their actions and the impact they have on others.

The moment I came into your life
Since the moment I entered your life
You forgot me just like yesterday
You easily forgot about me, as if it was just yesterday
But what must it feel like
However, how does it feel
Knowing that you left behind
Being aware that you abandoned
A part of your blood and your soul?
A piece of your own essence and spirit?
When I hear whispering, whimpering
In moments when I perceive murmurs, sobbing
Tampering, shuffling, rhythmic disdain
Interfering, moving around with a systematic contempt
I follow my way to the waterfall
I trace my path towards the waterfall
When I need so much more
Whenever I long for something greater
How does it feel to know
What is the sensation of being aware
You can't make it on your own
That you cannot succeed independently
With that dirty mark on a heavy heart?
With that tarnished stain on a burdened soul?
How does it feel to lose
What is the experience of constantly failing
Every time you try to kiss me with a lie?
Whenever you attempt to deceive me with false affection?
Restless you crawl into my mind
Anxious, you invade my thoughts
Calling to knock on the door
Pleading to have a presence in my life
Wishing to be left alone in my thoughts
Desiring to remain undisturbed within my mind
Without being kicked to the floor
Without being rejected and humiliated
Oh, how does it feel to know
Oh, what is the sensation of being aware
You can't make it on your own
That you cannot succeed independently
With that dirty mark on a heavy heart?
With that tarnished stain on a burdened soul?
How does it feel to lose
What is the experience of constantly failing
Every time you try to kiss me with a lie?
Whenever you attempt to deceive me with false affection?
