Mishra, a straight edger and ex-Marxist, often incorporates political concerns in his songs veiled in terms of personal relationships (as in his only hit). After a troubled working relationship with EMI Records, Mishra was dropped from the label in 1997 and since then has gone back to working with indie labels like Parasol Records. His last album, 2000's Peek & Poke, received moderately enthusiastic reviews but sold pitifully compared to his major label work.
In 2005 White Town contributed the song "The PNAC Cabal" to the charity album "Voyces United for UNHCR" (Voyces United for UNHCR (disc 1)).
In October 2006 White Town released a new album, Don't Mention The War on Mishra's own label, Bzangy Records.

Summer in her hair
She makes me feel the way I felt before
And though I know that
This is leading nowhere
I can't help rushing through
Those open doors
I can feel her laughter make everything glow
I can see her beauty in
The flowers and the trees
I can feel her hand in mine
And now I see that
She's all summer in a day
Here comes that girl with thе
Halo round her hips
Her love so full I rеally can't explain
And when I feel her
Eyes beneath my fingertips
It feels like the warmest summer rain
I can see her smile the smell of the rose
I can feel her laughter make everything glow
I can see her beauty in
The flowers and the trees
I can feel her hand in mine
And now I see that
She's all summer in a day
I've told her more than a million times
(I've told her more than a million times)
I am not worthy of her love
(I am not worthy of her love)
She puts her finger to my lips
(She puts her finger to my lips)
And shows me what comes from above
From above
Something tells me that it's love
The lyrics to White Town's "All Summer In A Day" evoke the feeling of longing for a past love, and the nostalgia that comes with it. The singer describes a girl with "summer in her hair" who makes him feel the way he did before. Although they both know that the relationship is leading nowhere, they can't help but rush through those open doors. The singer describes being able to see the girl's smile, feel her laughter, and see her beauty in the world around them. He sees her as "all summer in a day", a phrase that could be interpreted in a number of ways. Perhaps she represents the fleeting nature of summer, or the intense beauty of the season condensed into a single day. The second verse introduces a deeper level to the relationship, with the girl described as having a "halo round her hips" and a love that the singer can't explain. He also feels her eyes "beneath his fingertips", which adds a physical intimacy to the relationship.
Despite the singer's feeling of unworthiness for the girl's love, the song ends on a hopeful note. The girl "puts her finger to his lips" and shows him what comes from above, which could be interpreted as an act of kindness or forgiveness. The final line that "something tells me that it's love" indicates that the relationship may have a chance for growth and change.
Overall, "All Summer In A Day" is a complex and emotional song that deals with themes of past love, nostalgia, and hope for the future.
