Mishra, a straight edger and ex-Marxist, often incorporates political concerns in his songs veiled in terms of personal relationships (as in his only hit). After a troubled working relationship with EMI Records, Mishra was dropped from the label in 1997 and since then has gone back to working with indie labels like Parasol Records. His last album, 2000's Peek & Poke, received moderately enthusiastic reviews but sold pitifully compared to his major label work.
In 2005 White Town contributed the song "The PNAC Cabal" to the charity album "Voyces United for UNHCR" (Voyces United for UNHCR (disc 1)).
In October 2006 White Town released a new album, Don't Mention The War on Mishra's own label, Bzangy Records.
Fucked Again

Never thought you'd treat me this way
But you just sat there
Lying through her hair
And smiled, and kissed me goodbye
Well this has happened too many times
For it to be coincidence
Makes people hurry
It must be something that I do vocalisations
Never thought I could feel this low
Never felt so ugly and alone
Why must it always end up the same way?
I guess I'm just fucked again
Because, one day, the Sun must die
Not with a bang, but like the
Vast majority of other stars, With a whimper
But a whimper to a body as big as the Sun
Is an unparallel catastrophe to a planet
As fragile as the Earth
And one day, five billion years
On in the future
Our Sun will start to change
There will be one last perfect sunset
And then the Sun will swell
Parching the Earth and boiling
Away the oceans
There's no escaping the Sun's fate
Death is inevitable for the Sun
Just as it is for you and me
The lyrics to White Town's song "Fucked Again" express raw emotions of betrayal, hurt, and self-doubt. The singer begins by expressing disbelief that they were treated poorly by someone they trusted. They acknowledge that they were lying, yet still smiled and kissed goodbye. This betrayal must have happened too many times for it to be a coincidence. The singer wonders if there's something about them that makes people hurry away. They feel ugly, alone and low, and can't understand why things always seem to end the same way, making the declaration that they are just messed up again.
The second part of the lyrics takes a philosophical turn, referencing the ultimate fate of the Sun. The Sun, like everything in existence, is destined to die. When it does, it will happen slowly, and not with a bang but with a whimper. The death of the Sun, though, will be catastrophic for Earth, a body as insignificant compared to the Sun's size, making everything on it completely obliterated. It emphasizes how all living creatures have an end, whether it is the Sun or the singer.
Overall, the song is a melancholic reflection of the singer's life, who is fighting to understand why they keep getting hurt. It also gives a macroscopic comparison to the ephemeral existence of life itself, with the inevitable end of everything that surrounds individuals.
