Whitesnake Lyrics

For taking the easy way out.
Got a good reason
For taking the easy way out.
She was a day tripper,
One way ticket, yeah.
It took me so long to find out, and I found out.
She's a big teaser,
She took me half the way there.
She's a big teaser,
She took me half the way there.
She was a day tripper,
One way ticket, yeah.
It took me so long to find out, and I found out.
Day tripper,
Sunday driver, yeah.
It took me so long to find out, and I found out.
Day tripper, day tripper, day tripper.
Got a good reason
For taking the easy way out.
Got a good reason
For taking the easy way out.
She was a day tripper,
Sunday driver, yeah.
It took me so long to find out, baby, and I found out.
Day tripper
is a song by the 80s rock band Whitesnake, and the lyrics speak about a woman who takes the easy way out in life. She is a "day tripper" who has a one-way ticket with no intention of coming back. The song's protagonist notices that she takes him halfway but doesn't lead him all the way. She's a "big teaser," and he takes a long time to find out that she isn't someone who will stick around. The song's central theme is that someone can be deceptive even when they seem honest and upfront.
The song's verses use the phrase "day tripper" to describe a woman who keeps moving from place to place with no real destination in mind. The phrase takes on an extended meaning when the singer describes her as a "big teaser," which suggests that she is leading him on, but not giving him everything he wants. The chorus features the phrase "day tripper" repeated several times as the singer repeats the phrase, trying to understand the woman's motivations. The use of the phrase in the chorus creates a sense of repetition and mystery, underscoring the theme that it's hard to get a handle on someone who keeps moving.

While there's no beating the original recording of this classic, Whitesnake deserves a ton of credit for this totally awesome and original take on Day Tripper. They weren't trying to be the Beatles. They stayed true to their own sound while still respecting the song and knocked it out of the park.

Got a sexy Bluesy vibe.

Agreed! Like David Coverdale said about the Purple Album, We weren’t trying to replace the original songs. We just wanted to play ‘em.

I thoroughly enjoyed this thank you. I saw Whitesnake in the 80's and was blown away. I much prefer the earlier blues rock era than the more commercial rock style they developed into, however Mr Coverdale is still one of the best frontmen in rock.

Classic Whitesnake ... they were awesome, just cool and well played music. I saw them in 1981. Best concert I have seen.

Holy shit. Coverdale is amazing. His voice is like a mix of Paul Rodgers and Chris Cornell. So perfect for this genre.
