Triumph
Will Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Onward and upward, Towards the creator,
The coiling of serpents, The circling of ravens,
Our blackened souls, Spirit and temper,
Writhing in hatred, Is nothing sacred?
Flood of fire, siege of souls, Toil or tire, time still tolls,
In the seat of the scournful, In the council of the ungodly

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Will's song 'Triumph' depict a challenging and powerful journey towards reaching the creator. The coiling of serpents and the circling of ravens symbolize the obstacles and difficulties that one might encounter during this journey. The blackened souls represent the darkness and evil that we carry within ourselves, and our spirit and temper are always in conflict with each other. The lyrics ask the question, "Is nothing sacred?" which could be interpreted as a reflection on the current state of society, where all values and morals seem to be lost.

The flood of fire and siege of souls are metaphors for the challenges and struggles that we face in our lives. The lyrics suggest that no matter what we do, time still tolls, reminding us of the fleeting nature of life. The seat of the scornful and the council of the ungodly represent the negative influences in our lives that try to steer us away from our path towards the creator.

Overall, the lyrics of 'Triumph' are a powerful reminder of the obstacles that we face in our journey towards reaching our goals, and the importance of perseverance and determination in overcoming them.

It’s sad that 3 years ago this film was available to watch on Amazon prime, it’s part of history and people have the right to watch it for whatever reason. Now everything is hate speech. I hate that I have to grow up in this woke state 😩

Mr. Sheep Corn

@Jake Peterson Um, okay.

Lewa95

Oh god don't say "woke state", you have no idea how embarrassing bloviating over this shit is by now.

A very great analysis and commentary of this event. I have the original on DVD, but ultimately it is incredibly boring to watch, precisely because of the many, many parades. This is very well done here and also brings a bit of relaxed funniness to it, even if the essence is deadly serious and ultimately gruesome in view of the further course of this movement.
As a descendant of people who lived near Tannenberg and lost everything but their lives at the end of the war, I very much welcome this film being allowed to be shown in this way. It is a document of how masses can be seduced, which is very important in a time when autocrats and egomaniacs celebrate resurgence. Especially when it is commented as intelligently as it is here. The danger is far from over. Democracy is still very thin ice.

@Tom Hanhart Thank you so very much for your support and your very thoughtful comment. I really appreciate this.

Thank you for making this video. As a lover of the ww2 history myself, I must say that German people chose Hitler. Sometimes it is easier to blame everything on one person but what can one person do if his message wasn't echoed and spread by people. Human lives are constantly filled with hypocrisy, hatred, self-righteousness, revenge, betrayal, and lies. It happens everyday in every way, miniscule or huge.

There are methods one can combat this, 1) Focus on the good works and seek what is objectively good for global communities. For example, be engineers, doctors, etc, because it is a safe bet that your work is sustaining those communities. 2) Have faith in god (if you are religious) and therefore in humanity. 3) Realize everything is temporal. For such purpose, train yourself to give everything you can to those in need. Not just pennies, but everything in your power (except the money that sustains your living). 4) Seclude yourself in nature when you know you aren't helping your fellow humans. Otherwise, you judgemental instincts set in and you develop bias, envy, hatred, etc. Work in a city if you must but live in the forests, beaches, mountains where you hear the heartbeats of nature everyday and feel refreshed, knowing how insignificant you are.

Realize that you are intuitively imperfect and evil if you act on these intuitions is the start.

@Patrick Tong Thank you so much for your comment. I too believe that hatred, of any kind, is not an acceptable way forward for society. I am not, however, religious and so tend to find my answers to these types of issues in Enlightenment philosophy. John Locke's individualism really seems to make hatred of any particular group of people just a completely silly concept.

I was originally looking for the film as I have to watch it for one of my classes but having your commentary is beyond helpful with understanding contexts and deeper meanings!

Mr. Sheep Corn

@Clea Blu I am really glad that my little project could be of use to you. Thank you so incredibly much for your very kind comment.
