Give Us Your Heart
William McDowell Lyrics

Here in your presence
Humbly we bow
Speak to us now
Now that we're here
Here in your presence
We're waiting to hear from you
We're open
We're open
Speak to us now
[Repeat]
Give us your heart
Your heart for the nations
For this generation
Give us your heart
Give us your heart
For the wounded and the broken
For the widow and the orphan
Give us your heart
Give us your heart
For the lost and the dying
We hear your people crying
Give us your heart
Give us your heart
For the world that we live in
For the harvest that is waiting
Give us your heart
[Leader ad-libs]
Lord we will go
We'll go to the nations
To this generation
Lord we will go
Lord we will go
To the wounded and the broken
To the widow and the orphan
Lord we will go
Lord we will go
To the lost and the dying
We hear your people crying
Lord we will go
Lord we will go
To the world that we live
Reap the harvest that is waiting
Lord we will go
Fill us up and send us out
[Repeat]
[Leader exhorts]
I wanna live a life poured out
[Repeat]
We can change the world
[Repeat]
These lyrics from William McDowell's song "Give Us Your Heart" express a deep desire for God's presence and guidance in their mission to serve others. The repetition of "now that we're here" emphasizes the importance of being present at this moment to listen to God. The singers acknowledge their humility as they bow before God, asking Him to speak to them. The phrase "we're waiting to hear from you" demonstrates the expectation they have for God to guide them.
The chorus implores God to give them His heart. They ask for it for the nations, this generation, the wounded and the broken, the widow and the orphan, the lost and the dying, the world they live in, and the harvest that is waiting. The repetition of "give us your heart" shows they seek to have God's compassion and love for those in need.
The bridge declares their willingness to go where God leads them - to the nations, the wounded and the broken, the widow and the orphan, the lost and the dying, and the world they live in. They ask to be filled up by God and sent out to do His will. Finally, the singer exhorts themselves and others to live a life "poured out" for God, and declares that they can change the world.
