Ali Baba
William Vivanco Lyrics

No te dijeron
No te dijeron
No te dijeron
No te dijeron
Que así se dieron las mariposas ya
Ay Marinero
a marea te lleva, te lleva, te lleva a la isla milagrosa
No te dijeron
No te dijeron
Ay marinero,
la marea te llevo a la isla milagrosa
No te dijeron
No Te Dijeron
Ay marinero!
Ay Marinero Marineo Marinero Ay!
No te dijeron
The song "Ali Baba" by William Vivanco is a powerful tale of hope, struggle, and the resilience of the human spirit. Vivanco uses vivid imagery and poetic lyrics to convey the struggles faced by a group of sailors as they set off from port with just a bottle of rum to sustain them. The first lines of the song, "Sixteen sail away from port, oh oh oh, with a bottle of rum," set the scene for the adventure that is about to unfold.
However, the sailors soon encounter hardship and despair, as evidenced in the lines, "If Ali Baba were to come suddenly, he would see that there is nothing left here. The chest is empty. We live cheaply, waiting for a better time." Despite this bleak outlook, the singer implores the sailors to remain strong and hopeful, urging them to persevere in the face of adversity: "Don't cry, my love, even when the pain tightens. Endure whatever comes, whatever it may be. Keep quiet, but pray."
The song ends on a note of hope and optimism, as the singer addresses the sailors directly, encouraging them to look to the future and to remember the good things that they have experienced along the way: "The sea takes you, takes you, takes you away, ay ay ay. They did not tell you that this is how the butterflies were seen, gave, and lit up the good things."
