The band contains the heavy breakdowns and stance towards music of the new wave of deathcore bands, but their unique use of more epic, melodic keyboard driven passages put them in the front of the pack. Their music has been compared with Bleeding Through. Also, reviews, press, and others have stated that they incorporate an atmosphere of Scandinavian Black Metal. However, fans and the band themselves (in a video interview) would disagree with the label. They tend to mix American elements of metalcore and power metal with European symphonic death metal.
The first single from their major label debut, "The Impaler", was accompanied by a video that was banned by MTV for its language and content. The video was made to be like a hip-hop video, with a computer generated "epic metal" part at the end. There was alot of fan backlash at the video.

Back from the grave to strike again
We have come as children of the night
Sworn to drain everything of life
The lyrics of "Raise the Dead" by Winds of Plague describe a dark and ominous invocation of the dead rising from their graves to bring destruction upon the living. The opening line, "Peel away the earth and raise the dead," sets the tone for the song, suggesting that some kind of ritual or incantation is being performed to bring the deceased to life.
The following lines, "Back from the grave to strike again / We have come as children of the night," reinforce this sense of menace and suggest that the risen dead are not creatures to be trifled with. The final line, "Sworn to drain everything of life," hints at the true nature of the undead - not just mindless zombies or skeletons, but beings with a purpose and a plan.
Overall, the lyrics to "Raise the Dead" paint a picture of a bleak and terrifying world, where death is not the end and the living must be constantly vigilant against the threat of the undead.
