The band contains the heavy breakdowns and stance towards music of the new wave of deathcore bands, but their unique use of more epic, melodic keyboard driven passages put them in the front of the pack. Their music has been compared with Bleeding Through. Also, reviews, press, and others have stated that they incorporate an atmosphere of Scandinavian Black Metal. However, fans and the band themselves (in a video interview) would disagree with the label. They tend to mix American elements of metalcore and power metal with European symphonic death metal.
The first single from their major label debut, "The Impaler", was accompanied by a video that was banned by MTV for its language and content. The video was made to be like a hip-hop video, with a computer generated "epic metal" part at the end. There was alot of fan backlash at the video.

The Warrior Code
Winds of Plague Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The inevitable end for heroes and lost souls
Lie a battlefield of purpose
The purpose of one
The unraveling of destiny
Our destiny
Endowed with greatness
Seeking perfection of our soul
True and faithful to a unique warrior spirit
I am Iābreastāpenetrating the glorified eyes of a creator to discover I am he
He is I
Sent forth to rise above shame and mediocrity
To give not one fuck for the idea of original sin
To actualize the warrior legend within my mind
To stand and deliver a destiny unlike any other
To live with heart of warrior that will, one day, speak from the tombstone atop my grave
I will do in my life what will live forever
The lyrics of Winds of Plague's song "The Warrior Code" convey a message of individual purpose and destiny. The singer suggests that between life and death lies a battlefield of purpose, and that the purpose of one's life is to unravel their own destiny. The singer sees himself as endowed with greatness, seeking not to squander his potential but rather to live with a warrior spirit that will speak from his tombstone long after he is gone. In essence, the song urges listeners to strive for their own personal legends, finding the unique purpose for which they were created and pursuing it with all of their heart.
The lyrics also suggest that living with a warrior heart involves rejecting the idea of original sin and rising above shame and mediocrity. Rather than being weighed down by the sins and failures of the past, the singer seeks to transcend them and embrace his destiny as a warrior. This involves discovering that he is one with the creator, and that his purpose in life is to actualize the warrior legend within his mind.
