The band contains the heavy breakdowns and stance towards music of the new wave of deathcore bands, but their unique use of more epic, melodic keyboard driven passages put them in the front of the pack. Their music has been compared with Bleeding Through. Also, reviews, press, and others have stated that they incorporate an atmosphere of Scandinavian Black Metal. However, fans and the band themselves (in a video interview) would disagree with the label. They tend to mix American elements of metalcore and power metal with European symphonic death metal.
The first single from their major label debut, "The Impaler", was accompanied by a video that was banned by MTV for its language and content. The video was made to be like a hip-hop video, with a computer generated "epic metal" part at the end. There was alot of fan backlash at the video.

Strength to Dominate
Winds of Plague Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The blood stops flowing when there's no one left to bleed
You'll be begging for your life
Get on your fucking knees
I've never trembled in the face of fear
I possess the strength to dominate
I obtain the strength to dominate
Take heed of my warning
You'll be impaled headless on a stake
Bones picked clean by the morning
We drove the nails; now we've sealed your fate
One, two, fuck you
I see the weakness in your eyes
Do you see my strength to dominate?
Walk away while your heart still beats
Or feel my strength to dominate
Get down on your fucking knees
The blood stops flowing when there's no one left to bleed
You'll be begging for your life
Get on your fucking knees
Don't come to the killing fields if you don't have any fucking heart
There will be blood
What hasn't killed me yet
Has given me the strength to dominate
All the pain I have endured has provided my strength to dominate
Take heed of my warning
You'll be impaled headless on a stake
Bones picked clean by the morning
We drove the nails; now we've sealed your fate
Get down on your fucking knees
The blood stops flowing when there's no one left to bleed
You'll be begging for your life
Get on your fucking knees
Fool, I have tried to warn you:
There will be blood
The lyrics of "Strength to Dominate" by Winds of Plague are aggressive and empowering. The song is about the domination of one person over another and the consequences of underestimating someone's strength. The opening lines set the tone of the song by stating that when there is no one left to bleed, the blood stops flowing, and anyone who defies the dominator will beg for their life.
The theme of strength is repeated throughout the song. The dominator claims to possess the strength to dominate and refuses to tremble in the face of fear. He warns his enemies to take heed, or they will be impaled headless on a stake, and their bones will be picked clean by the morning. The bridge of the song repeats the phrase "get down on your fucking knees" as a command to submit to the dominator's will. The song ends with a final warning that there will be blood.
Overall, the lyrics of "Strength to Dominate" are about asserting one's strength and power over others. They encourage listeners to be confident in themselves and to not back down against their opponents. The song is an unapologetic display of aggression and dominance.
