2) Wintersleep are a Canadian indie rock band from Halifax, Nova Scotia. What started out as a side-project, eventually turned into one of the most popular live shows in Atlantic Canada. Wintersleep came together in 2001 and is composed of Loel Campbell (drums), Paul Murphy (guitar/vocals), Tim D'Eon (guitar/keyboards), Mike Bigelow (keyboards '05-'06/bass guitar), Jon Samuel (keyboards/backing vocals/guitar) and former member Jud Haynes (bass guitar).
Wintersleep are a part of Dependent Music, a music label/collective that began in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia in 1994.

Their music style is rooted in indie rock and has ambient and occasional shoegaze elements. Performances have been described as "entirely honest" and "deeply moving" with "captivating ambiance". While playing live, the band attempts to make the listener as much a part of the music as the band themselves by encouraging everyone to sing along.
They were nominated for two Juno Awards of 2008 and took home one of them: Alternative Album of the Year, and New Group of the Year (which they won).

Damage
Wintersleep Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I wrap your eyes
The bandages are on too tight
Your perfect skin
Will be damaged
Will be damaged
Will be damaged
You're feelin' low
Tired, heavy organ
Bleedin'
The bandages won't stick
Won't cover it
Won't wrap rap your eyes
Won't wrap your eyes
Your perfect skin
Won't be the same
The main theme behind Wintersleep's song "Damage" is the idea of a person's beauty being marred by their inner pain and struggle. The lyrics suggest a person who is suffering, both physically and emotionally, with their skin acting as a metaphor for their inner turmoil. The first verse talks about an attempt to cover up the eyes with bandages, indicating a desire to shut out reality or relieve the pain that's too hard to bear. However, the bandages are too tight, which implies that no matter how hard we try to conceal our pain, it's still there, affecting us. The chorus then repeats the phrase "Your perfect skin will be damaged" three times, suggesting that no one can escape the effects of suffering and that pain inevitably takes a toll on us.
The second verse highlights the consequences of hiding one's pain. The person is feeling low and weighed down, with their organs bleeding from the inside. Again, this speaks to the idea that when we try to suppress our pain, it doesn't just disappear; it continues to fester and can do internal damage. The phrase "The bandages won't stick, won't cover it" reinforces the idea that simple fixes won't make our problems go away – we have to confront them head-on, even if it's difficult. The lyrics then end on a melancholy note with "Your perfect skin won't be the same," which summarizes the song's message that suffering can change us and leave scars that are visible to the world.
