1) Women was formed in late 2007 by Chris Reimer, Mike Wallace and brothers Pat Flegel and Matt Flegel in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Their debut full-length was produced by Flemish Eye Records label-mate Chad VanGaalen (in his basement studio) and was released (CD/LP) July 8th 2008 on Flemish Eye Records. In July 2008, they signed with record label Jagjaguwar and their S/T debut album was released worldwide on October 7th 2008 and in the U.K in January 2009. The band toured Europe and the US extensively. The band's second album, "Public Strain" was released in August 2010 in the UK and September 28th, 2010 everywhere else. After a fight onstage in late 2010, rumours would circulate about the group's break-up, but management later confirmed they had only cancelled the rest of the tour. On February 22, 2012 , guitarist Christopher Reimer, passed away in his sleep, at age 26. Following Reimer's death, Matt Flegel and Mike Wallace would go on to form the group Preoccupations (formerly known as Viet Cong), with Pat Flegel forming Cindy Lee.
2) Women is also a punk band from Philly .

Venice Lockjaw
Women Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And fog rotate
Pelted on the second stair
Blood falls from your vision
Of an overdraw
Don't pant and we'll go unseen
Chirping birds
Hung on a firework
Bodies at once we were
Torched by the burning sand
Touched by a folded hand
Ripped off in your marteau
and matching walk
Echoed in a crowded square
Dragged into submission
Only salt remains
Stranded with a crooked sore
Hiding pain
into a pair of car
Crash into merchant shores
What you ask me for
Then he tries docks at ten
Dropped with his failing chore
The lyrics to Women's song Venice Lockjaw are abstract and difficult to decipher on their own. It is possible that the song is a commentary on how women are mistreated and devalued in society, as many of the lyrics seem to depict violence and pain. The first stanza could be referring to a physical assault, with the singer taking solace in the idea that if they don't breathe too heavily, they will go unnoticed.
The second stanza is more cryptic, with mentions of chirping birds and burning sand. These could be symbolic for something else entirely, but the imagery is haunting and evocative, almost as if the singer is remembering a traumatic event. The line "bodies at once we were" is particularly powerful, conveying a sense of loss and longing.
The final stanza again references physical violence, with "ripped off in your marteau" likely referring to a ripped article of clothing or a stolen possession. The singer feels stranded and alone, and even when seeking help from others (in the line "what you ask me for"), they are met with disappointment. Overall, the song seems to be a powerful commentary on the way women are often dehumanized and undervalued in society.

One more awful feeling
Experiencing yet another painful emotion
And fog rotate
The mist swirls around in a dizzying manner
Pelted on the second stair
Being bombarded on the second step
Blood falls from your vision
Drops of blood come into view
Of an overdraw
The result of having overextended oneself financially
Don't pant and we'll go unseen
Don't breathe heavily and we won't be noticed
Chirping birds
Birds singing happily
Passed off an open glare
Ignored a harsh look of disapproval
Hung on a firework
Suspended from an exploding pyrotechnic
Bodies at once we were
Suddenly we were in each other's arms
Torched by the burning sand
Burned by the scorching grains of the beach
Touched by a folded hand
Caressed by a hand that's held together
Ripped off in your marteau
Torn away in your hammer
and matching walk
And a gait to match
Echoed in a crowded square
Resounded in a busy plaza
Dragged into submission
Forced to give in
Only salt remains
All that's left is salty tears
Stranded with a crooked sore
Left alone with a painful injury
Hiding pain
Concealing the hurt
into a pair of car
Inside a vehicle
Crash into merchant shores
Collide with the coastal businesses
What you ask me for
Why are you questioning me
Then he tries docks at ten
Following that he attempts to arrive by boat at ten o'clock
Dropped with his failing chore
Collapsed while performing his failing task
