Down By The River
Work Lyrics

I found your hidden treasure
Just you and me,
We overdosed on pleasure
Yonnies in the wind,
We're ruggin' up for winter
Putting out the bins
Down by the docks
Live all the silent sea-ships
Crates are stored on blocks
Where now only the rats live
Sail me down the river
Till we reach the shore
Diving into the center
Eating out the core
Down on the beach
Saluting Captain Benbow
Always out of reach
It's quiet when the tide's low
Climbing up the cliffs
You can see for miles far
The boat that ran adrift
Is sitting on the sandbar
Laughing at the waves
That storm the river mouth
The ice is on the move now
Creeping north and south
Down by the sea
I found your hidden treasure
Just you and me
We over-dosed on pleasure
Listen to your heart
Screamin' at the sky
Can't you feel it tremble?
Don't you wonder why?
The lyrics to "Down By The River" by Work paint a vivid image of a couple adventuring and exploring by the sea. The first stanza describes how the couple found a "hidden treasure" and indulged in pleasure. The second stanza depicts the docks where they live, abandoned with only rats in crates stored on blocks. The chorus takes the listener on a journey down the river as the couple dive into the core and reach the shore. The third stanza speaks of a Captain Benbow who is always out of reach when the tide is low. The fourth stanza takes the listener to the cliffs where the couple finds a boat that ran aground. The last stanza talks about the couple laughing at the stormy river and the ice moving north and south. The lyrical flow of "Down By The River" is both captivating and calming, bringing the listener along for the ride down the river.

@PatricksCrazyPlace
My favorite part of this skit is watching David Spade and Christina Applegate desperately try to keep it together.
@markholub5219
When the Ad-Libbing begins, they're Toast..I think that Table collapse was unknown to all. Spade looked totally shocked..
Tim Conway busting up Harvey Korman was GOLD.
They would tape twice, one for TV, and a backup..Conway would make little changes from one to the other..keeping the Cast Mates off guard..😜
@JoeVideoed
Yeah, watching this live Chris looked so damn manic & outrageous. You could just tell by those 2 keeping their hands over their heads they were struggling to keep a straight face. I don't blame them a bit. It just made me laugh even harder than I was already laughing.
@viggo9454
yeah i love how christina is trying to hide her face with her hair as she was about to crack up
@PeterKocic
This is one those things that people say to emphasize something, but is totally over the top...lets face it, the favorite part of this skit is Chris Farley. Without Chris Farley, this skit...would be nothing. Just nothing. :) (I did find it hillarious that they tried to keep it together, but lets not kid ourselves)
@HatoBumpkin
@Peter Kocic I completely disagree. David Spade trying not to laugh is considerably more funny than the actual Cris Farley delivery.

“I want to live in a van down by the river”
A joke in 1993, an actual goal in 2019.
@Sonichero151
The truth is too painful....
@binkymagnus
there's an entire Youtube genre of how to live in your van
@jasonbourneistreadstone
Scary, isn't it?
