Knowin' where you're comin' from
I can't bring myself to go
Heaven help me I can't say no
I see forever in your deep blue eyes
And I know where the danger lies
Tell me, what's a girl to do?
I'm old enough to know better (to know better)
But too young to resist
I'd hate to lay awake at night
Wonderin' what I might have missed (wonderin' what I might have missed)
But somethin' tells me you're trouble
The only trouble is
I'm old enough to know better (to know better)
But too young to resist
Now good things come to those who wait
Somethin' tells me this is fate
And after all that I've been through
I'm gonna trust my heart to you
I'm old enough to know better (to know better)
But too young to resist
I'd hate to lay awake at night
Wonderin' what I might have missed (wonderin' what I might have missed)
But somethin' tells me you're trouble
The only trouble is
I'm old enough to know better (to know better)
But too young to resist
I suppose where love's concerned
Some fools just never learn
Lying here in your arms tonight, I can't help but feel (I can't help but feel)
It's gonna be all right (whoo!)
Be all right
I'm old enough to know better (to know better)
But too young to resist
I'd hate to lay awake at night
Wonderin' what I might have missed (wonderin' what I might have missed)
But somethin' tells me you're trouble
The only trouble is
I'm old enough to know better (to know better)
But too young to resist (I'm old enough)
(To know better)
Yeah I'm old enough to know better (I'm old enough to know better)
(Yeah I'm old enough) I'm old enough to know better
(To know better, know better) too young to resist
(I'm old enough)
(To know better)
(Yeah I'm old enough) I'm old enough to know better, baby, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
(To know better, know better)
(I'm old enough)
(To know better)
The song "Old Enough to Know Better" by Wynonna Judd is a catchy tune that tells an all-too-relatable story of a young woman who finds herself attracted to a man who she knows is no good for her. Despite her better judgment, the singer can't seem to resist the man's charm and charisma, even though she knows that he's trouble. She admits that she's old enough to know better, but too young to resist his advances. The singer wrestles with conflicting emotions, as she knows that the man is not good for her, but at the same time, she can't help but be drawn to him. This inner turmoil is conveyed through the lyrics, which are filled with heartache, longing, and a sense of resignation.
The chorus of the song is particularly powerful, as it captures the conflict between the singer's head and her heart. On the one hand, she knows that she should resist the man's advances, but on the other, she's afraid of missing out on something special. The lyrics "I'd hate to lay awake at night / Wonderin' what I might have missed / But somethin' tells me you're trouble / The only trouble is / I'm old enough to know better / But too young to resist" perfectly encapsulate this dilemma. Despite being old enough to know better, the singer can't bring herself to walk away from the man who is clearly no good for her.
Overall, "Old Enough to Know Better" is a bittersweet exploration of the complexities of human emotion. The lyrics are relatable, honest, and poignant, and the melody is catchy and memorable. It's a song that many people can relate to, as we've all been in situations where we know that we should do one thing but end up doing the opposite. It's a testament to Wynonna Judd's skills as a songwriter that she's able to capture these emotions so artfully.
