Move Your Body
Xpansions Lyrics

Lady, would you lay?
I'll rub them all away
Lady, lay your body
Let me rub the lonely places all away
Lady, lay your body
Let me rub the lonely
I wanna rub your loneliness away
It was from a window watching you around my way
I was too shy to even call to you
So I wrote some words that made it easier to say
Lady, would you lay?
Lady, lay your body
Let me rub the lonely places all away
Lady, lay your body
Let me rub the lonely
I wanna rub your loneliness away
Visions of you around my bed
Nothing but roses when you rest your lovely head
And I'll put my everything in you
You know I'm the only one who knows just what to do, lady
Lady, lay your body
Let me rub the lonely places all away
Lady, lay your body
Let me rub the lonely
I wanna rub your loneliness away
You've waited, oh so long for me to come your way
But now I'm here and sadness is gone away
Lay lady lay, lay, won't you lay with me?
Lady, would you lay?
Lady, lay your body
Let me rub the lonely places all away
Lady, lay your body
Let me rub the lonely
I wanna rub your loneliness away
Lady, lay your body
Let me rub the lonely places all away
Lady, lay your body
Let me rub the lonely
I wanna rub your loneliness away
All away
Hey hey, I wanna rub them all away
The lyrics of Xpansions' "Move Your Body" convey a message of desire and loneliness. The mysterious narrator, who describes himself as being in love with someone who lives nearby, is too shy to approach her in person. Instead, he sings about wanting to "rub" her "lonely places all away," offering to soothe her emotional pain. The lyrics are sensual, evocative, and offer a promise of intimacy between the two individuals.
The verses capture a vivid, erotic imagery of the singer's fantasies about her. He envisions roses and intimacy between them, and he wants her to lay down with him, so they can share a tender moment. The chorus refrain of "Lady, lay your body" is catchy and repetitive, and it conveys the message of the song with emotional intensity.
The song overall carries a positive and upbeat vibe. It is full of infectious energy with catchy beats and motivating drum patterns that encourage the listener to dance along with the music. As a result, "Move Your Body" became a massive hit, reaching the top 5 on both the US and UK dance charts in 1990.

Funny thing is I've been jamming out to this for years and all my friends ask when did this come out? Here we are nearly 30 years later and people can't get enough of this music from the best era of dance.

It's a great track and really sums up the energy of those 2 years. But I always thought the keyboard riff was speeded up version of DTrain 'Your the one for me'???

In 1991, I moved from a tiny town in Pennsylvania to Los Angeles and started hitting real nightclubs vs little bars. One of my first clubs was on Santa Monica Blvd named Arena. That is when I was introduced to one of my all time favorite songs, Move Your Body. If I had a list of songs that would make up the soundtrack of my life, this is DEFINITELY on it. From that long ago to today, I'm still loving this song and dancing my butt off. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to the guys that brought us this masterpiece. Hats off to you! It isn't often these days that I feel happy (major losses recently) but this song gives me that joy. So thank you!
