She was born in Par… Read Full Bio ↴Yaël Naïm is a French-Israeli singer and songwriter.
She was born in Paris in 1978 to Jewish-Tunisian parents. At the age of four, she moved with her family to Ramat HaSharon, Israel, where she learned Hebrew and trained as a pianist. She served in the Israel Defence Forces as a soloist in the Israeli Air Force Orchestra. She began her singing career with a part in the musical "Les Dix Commandements," and her first solo album, In A Man's Womb, was released in 2001. According to a Songfacts interview with her, it disappointed Yael, who decided she would be much happier giving up her dreams of stardom and making music on her terms.
She also sang the song "You Disappear" by Bruno Coulais for the film Harrison's Flowers directed by Elie Chouraqui. For her early work she was credited simply as Yaël.
Naïm joined forces with percussionist David Donatien, and over a period of two years they arranged and recorded thirteen of Naïm's songs in a studio in Naïm's own appartment in Paris, and these were released as her second album, Yael Naim, in the fall of 2007 on the Tôt Ou Tard label. The songs are in French, English, and Hebrew and received critical acclaim, and the album entered the French album chart at #11 the week after its release. The style has been described as having a touch of folk and a touch of jazz, with mysterious and evocative words sung with a delicate and intentionally slightly husky voice.
In January 2008, her song "New Soul" was featured in the debut commercial for the MacBook Air laptop. The song gained fame from being featured in the ad, and it has peaked, as of February 1 2008, at #2 on the iTunes Top 100 Downloaded Songs.

I am here with you
Even when you're scared
I'll never leave you
Standing in a storm
Making it insane
Once again, I would try
But you open your eyes to the sky
and whisper
That you are so lonely
You are so alone
You're so alone
You're so lonely, so lonely
So I'm coloring my face
While I am here with you
Imagining the landscape of your sorrow
Is it yellow or blue?
Coloring the sky, and the threes
and the clouds, and the moonlight
I'd colored your heart
If you didn't I did
That you are so lonely
You are so alone
You're so alone
You're so lonely, so lonely
So I'm coloring my face
While I am here with you
Imagining the landscape of your sorrow
Is it yellow or blue?
Coloring the sky, and the threes
and the clouds, and the moonlight
I'd colored your heart
If you didn't I did
That you are so lonely
You are so alone
You're so alone
You're so lonely, so lonely
So I'm coloring my face
While I am here with you
Imagining the landscape of your sorrow
Is it yellow or blue?
Coloring the sky, and the threes
and the clouds, and the moonlight
I'd colored your heart
If you didn't I did
And I wish you could just find home
The song "Alone" by Yael Naïm is a message of reassurance and consolation to someone who is going through a difficult time or feeling lonely. The lyrics are about being present and supportive in a time of adversity. The first verse talks about always being there, providing companionship and support through thick and thin. Even during the hardest moments, the person in the song promises they will never leave the other person's side.
The second verse is about a storm, a metaphor for a difficult phase in life, when things seem to be getting out of control. The singer tries to chain or control the other person, but they realize that this approach won't work. Instead, they urge the person to look up at the sky and take comfort in the beauty of the world around them. The chorus repeats the message that the person is not alone, and the singer is there for them.
The third verse focuses on the singer's efforts to lift the other person's spirits. They imagine an imaginary landscape of sorrow and try to fill it with color and beauty, painting the sky, trees, and clouds vivid hues. The final lines express the hope that the person they are trying to help will eventually find their way home, a metaphor for finding a place of belonging and security.
Overall, "Alone" is a touching and empathetic song that speaks to the human need for comfort and support in difficult times.

You are not alone
I want you to know that I am here with you
I am here with you
I will always be by your side
Even when you're scared
I won't abandon you when you're afraid
I'll never leave you
My loyalty to you is unwavering
Standing in a storm
Even when things get tough, we'll face them together
Making it insane
It can feel overwhelming at times
Once again, I would try
I'll keep striving to support you
To enchain you
To keep you close and protect you
But you open your eyes to the sky and whisper
You look up and find solace in nature
That you are so lonely
You feel isolated and solitary
You are so alone
You crave companionship and connection
You're so alone
Loneliness is weighing heavily on you
You're so lonely, so lonely
The feeling of being isolated is suffocating
So I'm coloring my face
I distract myself and try to lift your spirits
While I am here with you
I want to physically show you that you're not alone
Imagining the landscape of your sorrow
I'm trying to understand how you're feeling
Is it yellow or blue?
What color represents the sadness you're experiencing?
Coloring the sky, and the threes
I'll try to brighten your day by painting a picture of nature
and the clouds, and the moonlight
I'll bring the beauty of the world to you
I'd colored your heart
I want to make you feel loved and cared for
If you didn't I did
If you can't find joy, I'll try to create it for you
And I wish you could just find home
I wish you could find comfort and belonging

The first time I heard this song, I was in Iraq 🇮🇶 as a young airman. I just picked a random CD at the huts 🛖 and it was the best weirdest music I've ever discovered. When times got stressful, I'd play this on repeat. It helped...
