By the time High Class Street Music 4 and the Preach single dropped in 2014, Dolph was working with major-label producers including Drumma Boy and Zaytoven. Both provided tracks for his 2016 debut LP, King of Memphis, which featured no guest artists, and debuted at number 49 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
A trio of mixtapes followed, ending withm Rich Crack Baby. Dolph's seventh studio album, Rich Slave, arrived in August 2020 and found him addressing issues of racism and inequality in America. The lyrics to Young Dolph's song "Water on Water on Water" paint a vivid picture of his lavish lifestyle. The first verse suggests that Dolph is incredibly successful, living at the bank with plenty of money to spare. He boasts about diamonds on diamonds on diamonds, and how fashion always plays a role in his appearance. The line "Mansion party, nothing but bitches on bitches on bitches" tells us that Dolph is surrounded by women and enjoys the company of many. The chorus of the song repeats the idea of excess with water on water on water and choppers on choppers on choppers playing off of one another.
In the second verse, Dolph name-drops notable figures like Grant, Franklin, and Jackson, saying they are his real day ones. He also mentions his love for cars and women, emphasizing his wealth, success, and luxurious lifestyle. The chorus repeats, cementing this idea of excess, luxury, and constant pursuit of pleasure. The final verse continues the theme of excess with Dolph listing off how he makes and spends his money. In the end, the song tells the story of a man living life to the fullest and not holding back on anything - cars, women, fashion, and most importantly, money.
