Crystallized
Young the Giant Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Crawl back to life
It's been far too long
Crystallized
Round interstellar moons
Seed of light into your atmosphere
What's your world like?
Is the house we've built still here?
Girl you know

When the beat of my drum
Meets the beat of your heart
You know I couldn't love any other, any other
This is where I come from
This is where I belong
With the beat of your drum
Not any other

Fall through the sky
Little specks below
Magnify, the further down I go
I feel it in my bones
Can you feel too?
Is this the world I know?
Is the house we've built still here?
Is the human race sincere?

When the beat of my drum
Meets the beat of your heart
You know I couldn't love any other, any other
This is where I come from
This is where I belong
With the beat of your drum
Not any other

Feel the force of time
Weighing down my mind
Tears you cry, screaming at the sky
Come outside
The rays are shinning bright

Not any other
Feels like home
Where I belong
Oh oh

When the beat of my drum
Meets the beat of your heart
You know I couldn't love any other, any other
This is where I come from
This is where I belong

With the beat of your drum
Not any other

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Crystallized" by Young the Giant are open to interpretation, but one possible theme is the idea of finding a sense of belonging in another person or in the universe. The first verse hints at a person coming back to life after a long period of time and feeling a sense of clarity or "crystallization" as they gaze at the interstellar moons. The second verse continues this theme of exploring new frontiers and questioning the nature of the world they live in. The chorus provides a message of love and acceptance, where the singer feels that they could only love the person they're addressing, and that they belong together. The bridge speaks to the weight of time and the sadness that comes with it, but ultimately ends on a positive note with a call to come outside and enjoy the sunshine.

It's worth noting that the song's meaning is not necessarily straightforward and can be interpreted in a variety of ways. However, the lyrics suggest a search for meaning and belonging that is both universal and deeply personal. By contrast, the music is relatively upbeat and catchy, with driving drums and dreamy guitars that create a sense of wonder and possibility.

took my 13,11,10@8 year old children to see them last month. When they came on stage my 8 year old stated balling. In between gasp for air she was saying ITS THEM. The cops and there security came to check on her. When I told them she was just happy to see them. The cop took my daughter and let her sit on the rail right in front of the stage. she says it was the best day of her life.
