Originally beginning as a solo project by guitarist/vocalist Tyler Zanon in 2013 under the name Bedroom Talk, Tyler recruited member Cody Muraro to guest on the debut song “Grinding Teeth”. The chemistry worked out in a positive manor, so both decided to undergo the project together as a duo. After releasing 2 EPs and a full-length, Cody left the band in 2020 to become the vocalist of Real Friends. Since then, Youth Fountain moved forward as Tyler's solo project, releasing "Keepsakes & Reminders" in 2021.
Take One Capsule A Day
Youth Fountain Lyrics

Anything to keep me from tossing and turning in my sleep
I need another sad story
Like the notch in the tree where you once said you'd always love me
If you were here I'd let you know how I'm near
The edge of existing but it's not like I'm living at all
I'm done, it's not the same now you're gone
I've been left with your memory that seems like a century ago
before this imbalance took over each ballad I sung
We all scream and shout we wanna be someone else
So how can we practice this act of self love?
It's on me, it's on us to learn how we can trust
We'll be fine if we let ourselves start to adjust this train of thought,
I'm gonna let myself rot
I'm still holding on all alone, my times almost up
The lyrics of "Take One Capsule A Day" by Youth Fountain paint a poignant and emotionally turbulent picture of someone struggling with mental health issues and heartbreak. The opening lines "Take one pill and put the wind in my sails, Anything to keep me from tossing and turning in my sleep" convey a sense of desperation and a search for solace amidst inner turmoil. The metaphorical imagery of taking a pill to find some stability in their chaotic emotions is a powerful representation of seeking a way to cope with their struggles.
The reference to needing "another sad story, like the notch in the tree where you once said you'd always love me" delves into a painful nostalgia for a past relationship and a yearning for the love that was once promised but has now faded. The juxtaposition of feeling near the edge of existence yet not truly living reflects the profound impact that loss and heartbreak can have on one's sense of self and purpose. The longing for the presence of the person who is no longer there is palpable, emphasizing the emptiness and longing that linger in their absence.
The chorus delves into the universal theme of yearning to be someone else and the struggle to practice self-love in a world that often feels harsh and unforgiving. The sentiment of needing to learn how to trust oneself and allowing oneself to adapt to a new way of thinking is central to the concept of self-growth and healing. The dark imagery of letting oneself rot and feeling like time is running out adds a sense of urgency and despair to the narrative, highlighting the desperation and hopelessness that can accompany mental health struggles and emotional pain.
In conclusion, the lyrics of "Take One Capsule A Day" by Youth Fountain encapsulate a raw and honest exploration of inner turmoil, heartbreak, and the search for self-acceptance and healing. The juxtaposition of longing for a lost love, grappling with mental health issues, and the universal struggle to practice self-love and trust oneself creates a poignant and relatable narrative that resonates with many listeners. Through vivid imagery and emotive storytelling, the song captures the complexities of the human experience and the quest for understanding, acceptance, and ultimately, hope.
