When Saya changed the world, I wasn't horrified. I was content and hopeful. I mean, considering that she (and thus the others) can change their DNA, they can just change themselves into whatever they wish- including humans. Or, considering everyone may perceive things like Fuminori, they'll probably perceive themselves as human anyway. Either way, everyone gets what they want eventually (Saya with her blooming, Fuminori with a better life, humanity with a normal, comfortable world) and meanwhile, the world heals itself from humanity's effects.

Damn, just finished getting the other 2 endings.

While I lost all sympathy for Fuminori, I got a better understanding of who Saya is. True, she becomes ruthless and vicious but only because she's trying to get into Fuminori's good side. The notes of Ogai suggest she might've called the whole thing off if Fuminori had left her.

She's impossible to understand in human terms. Despite her knowledge, she resembles an animal more than anything. If you think about it, we humans kill and eat animals without a second though. The same applies for Saya. Not trying to justify her acts, but at least we should see things in perspective.

What happened to Koji and Yoh...better left unspoken.

If you liked Saya no Uta, I suggest that you read the Muv Luv series. It´s more complex (and mindblowing) but it´s the best visual novel(s) I´d ever read. Also, I love your pic of Lucifer's Call (Nocturne)

xLightningOverdrivex What, those VNs have nearly nothing in common, plus the series isn't nearly as good as it is said to be. If you like mecha stuff, you'll enjoy it a lot, otherwise it has too much flaws-- having to read through a VN most of people find absolutely boring first being one of the big ones.

Well, I dunno about you, but what happened to Shouji was he got pushed into a well... unless you got ending 2 (or was it 3... I forget) where he gets eaten.
Nothing can compare to what happened to Yoh though.
I find it the sign of a good writer when, no matter what Fuminori and saya do, you can still sympathize with them a little bit. Like the ending where Saya "gives birth", you can really feel Fuminori's grief as Saya is dying in his arms, despite all the horrible things he has done. On some level, you realize that they DO have a reason for what they're doing. It isn't just pointless cruelty (Well I mean besides Yoh, but even there Saya had a reason). All they want is to live happily, without the interference of all the other people. Kind of a really twisted love story.

My favorite track from the game.

Mind you, I've only gotten to the ending where you regain your sight, but throughout the game I kinda pitied Saya.
She resembles both a scared girl and a wild animal. She just wants to reunite with her father, but she sees humans as food.
Fuminori, the only person that cares for her, is losing his mind and this makes her feel guilty.
The ending is really sad, but satisfying.

Let's see how the other route goes. Hope it's as good as the one I played.

If there's something I think Saya no Uta handled in a nearly perfect way, I think it's the characterization of the main characters: The story, at least for me, truly managed to let the main character, Fuminori, be regarded as a humanly plausible hero; He is moved by impulses, which, for as much as may be reconsidered behind reason, always result, somehow, in an equally plausible choice. He could've tried continuing his life under the temperamental mask he was supposedly wearing at the start of the game, or he could also just handle himself in his fullness to an adeguate medical place which would've tried treating him, ironically, but that's just a side note, writing a possible paragraph which could've weirdly resembled the time when Schumann handled himself to a mental asylum; Yet, he does a human choice: Believe in the only think he still sees as human.
My comment may not have been concise, or fully understandable, but yet, the message I want to convey is: This game was art, and I'm, somehow, truly glad it was made. Also, the american comic adaptation looks horrible, has a different plot and eventually, at least for me, isn't even considerable on pair of this work of art.

this shit simultaneously knocks out a spectrum of emotions out of you and raises questions that have definitely not been posed by conventional and fantastic literature and films before. But due to the hentai shell, many people who could understand that Saya is not on a level with hentai, but rather next to fantastic literature. Modern "art" "like the same Star Wars does not raise questions. Aliens are just people with a different skull shape and skin color, number of fingers, a different language. If not, it's just a target or a scary thing like Alien.

Depite knowing the exact part when this plays, just by listening to it, well, it sounds one of the most "normal" songs in the game.

Sure, it sounds sad and marvelously made, but it does not sound twisted like the rest of the OST in game. This one survived the butcher's taint (or not).

If anything, the length of Saya no Uta is perfect for a screen adaptation but its content is so graphic that it'd be hard for it to get out the "hentai" underground.

Not just that but there's a lotta crazy shit we just don't see in the VN that's only described to us. I'm not sure how anyone would do those parts without messing it up, either.

Best case: they only cut the sex scenes out, which wouldn't bother me. Or maybe they could go with implication and all that, just don't show them in the act.

I would love to see how they would go about portraying the gore-o-vision. And I hope they don't show Saya like the American comic did. In terms of violence and disgusting stuff they should stay true to the novel, which isn't impossible as Berserks Golden Age Arc final shows. Just very unlikely :(

It would probably end up like school days, i think the VN was amazing though the anime angered people so much cause they chose the worst possible story chain to write on, made makoto an idiot (well....he was to begin with i guess)and cut out the sex scenes which is what built up the pressure in the story.

I Loved saya no uta, though i don't think it would do well as an anime, also mainly due to the english dubbing which completely destroys the mood of most dark anime

Gutzahn Hmm, im pretty sure they were more like the scenes you would find in an eroge than a straight sex scene. They aren't required to watch as much as they are in Saya no Uta, though they do increase the tension between the characters and enhance the story. Im not obsessed with the sex scenes though i think they shouldn't have been cut out as they did actually have a purpose

this song plays 4 times in the game. The first is when Fuminori is remembering when he first got out of the hospital and asked Saya to stay with him at his house. He goes home and sees her in his room. The second is during the ending where Fuminori asks Saya to change his sight back to normal and he ends up in the mental hospital, Fuminori and Saya say goodbye for the last time. The third time is the ending where Koji calls Ryoko and everyone dies except Koji. Ryoko kills Saya in front of Fuminori and stricken with grief Fuminori kills himself leaving Koji behind. And the final time is the ending where Koji calls Fuminori. Koji goes to meet Fuminori without contacting Ryoko, where Saya kills and eats Koji. Since Fuminori was wounded in the fight against Koji he's slow to realize Saya is in pain. Saya admits she's going to give "birth" to their children while dying in the process. Saya's children is revealed to mutate all human species into what Saya is thus ending the human race forever.

I've played this game so many times and this song never fails to amaze me.

I guess I only remembered it for the scene I mentioned because I felt it was so suitable for the crystal clear look on Fuminori's face with the bright white background. It's the only time you see Fuminori look..'normal'.
As if his eyes were finally open.

I also found Kouji's description of what happened that day humorous, as he described the whole thing as if he had some major bad dream that he never wants to have again, and he just keeps living life trying to forget what he saw closing his medicine cabinet after taking some meds (not sure if I got it 100% right)
